Outside the Lines
By: Kimberly Kincaid
Releasing July 30th, 2013

Blurb
As an ivy-league ER doctor who eats double shifts for breakfast (and lunch…and dinner), Blake Fisher has little appetite for anything other than work. Being on the staff at Brenstville Hospital means taking care of people, a need Blake understands all too well from losing his brother to cystic fibrosis eight years ago. When he’s asked to coordinate a carnival fundraiser for the cause, he jumps at the chance to help others with the disease…until it lands him side by side with the one woman he never thought he’d see again: his ex-fiancée.

Streetwise and rough around the edges, Jules Shaw is no stranger to earning a living through hard work. But when her job as the restaurant manager of Mac’s Diner puts her shoulder to really broad shoulder with Blake Fisher, she nearly balks. She’d rather dodge and deflect than admit the real reason she broke things off, but the catering contract for the carnival means big business for Mac’s, and feeding people is Jules’s lifeblood.

As Blake and Jules join reluctant forces, they quickly rediscover the spark between them. But the possibility of a future together hinges on coming clean about the past, with potentially devastating consequences. Can Blake and Jules overcome their drastically different backgrounds and learn to love again, or will they always be outside the lines?

My Review
Jules has had a rough life but has rose above it. She works hard at Mac's Diner and really loves what she does. She has a hard shell around her and doesn't allow many people in. She loves to cook and feed people who need it. She has come up with a great plan for a fundraiser. Th only problem is she has to work with Blake Fisher the man she was engaged to years ago and left. Blake also works hard at being a doctor he works double shifts all the time and is always trying to help people who are ill. He has never forgot Jules and the fundraiser to help raise money for cystic fibrosis has them growing close again all the while Jules still wants to keep secret why she left him years ago. The fund raiser means a lot to both of them as Blake's brother died years ago from it. Can they work things out or will Jules keep her secrets and not give love a chance again.

Jules is a hard working woman. She is the type of person who loves to feed people and no one will go hungry around her. She is sexy and loves her friends but is scared on the inside and thinks she isn't good enough. I really liked her and like all she has done to overcome her childhood. Blake is the sexy rich doctor who you would think would be conceited but he is far from it. He also works hard and doesn't want anyone to give him things he wants to work for them. He really cares for Jules even if she broke his heart years ago and left him with lots of questions. These two are very similar but both have things holding them back.

This is a quick read and a fantastic one. You really inside Jules and Blake's world and see where both are coming from. You grow to care for both of them as the author does a great job writing about them. Not only do you get a nice love story you also get a story of overcoming the odds and how people from different backgrounds can be the same. If you like a story about wonderful people you will love this one. I loved the ending as you know how hard Jules has worked and what she does makes a huge impact on your heart.

Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”

So she did.

That first book is safely buried on her hard drive, but the process set Shannyn on the path to where she is today—agented with a debut ebook coming out with Kensington in late 2012.

She is recovering from her Diet Coke addiction, fears putting her foot in her mouth on social media, and has a renewed appreciation for the bad girls of the world.

Blurb:
Joshua Hanover had it all. He was handsome, rich, athletic, and had always been popular with the ladies. Yet, until he gets paired up with his beautiful but shy lab partner, Rosa, he never allowed himself to fall in love. As the chemistry between them grows, Josh realizes that his player days have come to end. But it seems his change of heart has come too late. Not only is Rosa leery of his bad boy reputation, he has four vindictive ex-girlfriends who are on a rampage. At first he doesn’t take their threats seriously, but then his tires are slashed, someone tries to poison him, and one of the girls turns up dead. Josh doesn’t know who to trust, but one thing is certain. It definitely isn’t worth the price he’s paying to be a player.

My Review
Joshua has never cared who he hurt. He likes girls and has no problem playing the field sometimes with more than one girl. That changes when he falls in love with his lab partner Rosa. He wants to get rid of all his girlfriends and go after Rosa and be with Rosa only.Rosa isn't sure about dating Josh but when they begin dating she doesn't only have to worry about her heart but has to worry it seems someone is after Josh. He has four mad girls he has just dumped. Someone has slashed Josh's tires is leaving him notes and now one of his exes has ended up dead. Being a player has come back to hurt him. He has to figure out who is after him.

Josh at first I didn't think I would like. After all he is dating four girls at once. The more I read about him I started to like him a little. Rosa seemed good for him. Josh really has only had his best friend Andrea be there for him always. His parents work all the time and his dad really pushes him to be perfect. I think Josh  is the type of guy who seems to have it all but you don't know what he has going on in his life. Rosa is the sweet, nerdy type girl who grew up poor. She has a different life from Josh. I love how she tries to see the best in some people and is easy to forgive people. There is a whole cast of other characters that all add their part to this great book.

This book really surprised me as I kept reading. I had to figure out who it was and I was wrong a few times about who I guessed it was. You get a little bit of love, friendship, murder, mystery and so much more in this book. You won't want to put it down. I love how several characters including Josh make a turn around in their personality and really change and grow in this book. I really got a feel for them as I read about all of them. I will say the ending surprised me and I didn't see some of it coming. This is an excellent book I would tell anyone wanting something different to read.

Excerpt
Someone else came over to offer Nadine their congratulations, so Josh said goodbye and went to his locker to get his backpack. He figured he would meet up with Andrea and Rosa in the parking lot. He fumbled with the combination before finally getting the door to swing open. Something glittered on the top shelf and caught his eye. He reached for it, and a small scrap of paper fluttered to the floor.

At first he wasn’t sure what he was holding. It was a pink plastic tiara with some big gaudy plastic jewels. It was the type of thing he had seen in dollar stores for little girls’ birthday parties. It was practically broken in half, and the edges were sharp. Josh pricked his finger on the jagged point, and a few drops of blood welled from the small wound. He put his finger in his mouth as he bent to pick up the paper that had fallen. When he read it, the broken crown suddenly made sense and he wondered how he could have been so naïve. He should have realized from the instant he saw it what it meant.

“Josh decided to play around
Now one of his girls is under the ground.
Another has a big bump on her head.
And by the end of the dance, the queen will be dead.”

The Ruin of a Rogue Blog Tour - Review, Teaser & Giveaway

Hi everyone! Today I have a stop on The Ruin of a Rogue blog tour. I have a review, teaser and giveaway for you all.

Blurb
MARCUS LITHGOW is the wastrel son of a worthless father. Only his well born mother gave him any pretense of respectability and this he squandered with his hellraising antics. Now, with an unexpected title and the mantle of responsibility nearly choking him, Marcus returns to England--titled, destitute, and in need of a wife.

Anne Brotherton is sick of running into fortune hunters wherever she turns, and is not about to fall for so obvious a one as Marcus Lithgow. However it doesn't mean he can't be useful to her. Association with him will bring scandal down upon her head, and certainly chase of the boringly respectable men her guardians wish her to wed. As long as she keeps her heart to herself, what's the harm in a bit of fun?

But Anne didn't count how seductive Marcus's world--and the man himself--could be. As for Marcus, what started as a means to an end is now the only possible option...because the one thing this gambler can't afford to lose is his heart.

My Review
Anne Brotherton is tired of all the fortune hunters after her. They really don't want to get to know her or care about her just her money. Marcus Lithgow is is a rogue that is somewhat like his wastrel father. He has returned to England with a title and not much else. He loves to gamble and he sees his chance to better his life by marring Anne. Anne figures if she gets close to Marcus the scandal will chase other fortune hunters away. She knows he is not to be trusted and tries to keep her heart from getting attached. Both people have their heart on different goals not realizing what they need may just be each other.

Anne is a wonderful character. She is rich but really doesn't let it go to her head. A few times it shows she is used to having money but for the most part she would rather be reading a book about history and her dream is to explore. I really liked her even when she should turn her back on people she looks for the best and she cares with her whole heart. Marcus seems like a user at first but once you get to see what it was like for him growing up ypu grow to really like him. He has had a bad past and seems to let his father deeds come over onto him. He really wants to be a good person deep down.

I really enjoyed this book as it has the historical romance I like along with buts of even further back history. I thought that was a nice touch. The two main characters seem to want to use each other but you can see the love growing even when they can't. I know a lot of people say these all read the same but this one truly doesn't. There was several twist I din't see coming and was surprised by them. You have some evil past deeds that come back to haunt them. You also get to see just how much the two belong together and what they are willing to face. I love reading about these two and they kept me entertained in all they go through. I will say I especially loved the ending as I got a good laugh out of one scene. I won't spoil it but I will say it fit perfect for Anne's character. I actually felt like I got to know these characters and was sad to see the book end. Recommend this for any historical romance lover or anyone wanting a great love story.

“Did he ever kiss you?”

“No.” The answer was more a breath than a word. Her eyes grew large and lovely and her lips parted, just enough to emit a breath. Gently he cupped her cheek. He lowered his head and brought his mouth to hers. He found her as pliant yet firm as he’d suspected, and every bit as sweet. In her inexperienced way she kissed him back. It wasn’t much of a kiss, little more than a mingling of breath, and he wanted more. His fingers found the wild pulse at her temple, threaded into the hair she wore firmly coiled about her head. Closing his eyes, he let her scent and taste and the texture of her lips wash over him. She felt clean and pure. He wanted to pull her into his arms, to discover the body hidden by ill-fitting layers of wool, and most of all to kiss her properly, until she was gasping and crying out for more.

Her untouched enthusiasm touched him, and shamed him too. A man like Marcus Lithgow had no business with this artless girl.

Too bad. He needed her and he couldn’t afford scruples.

How To Marry A Highlander Blog Tour - Review & Excerpt

Hi everyone! Today I have a stop on the How To Marry A Highlander blog tour. There is a review and excerpt for you all!

How To Marry A Highlander
By: Katherine Ashe

Blurb
An intrepid lady takes on an impossible task to win an irresistible lord.

With seven troublesome half-sisters to marry off, Duncan, the Earl of Eads, has one problem: he’s broke. With the prospect of marriage to the pompous local curate, Miss Teresa Finch-Freeworth has one dream: to wed the handsome Highlander she saw at a ball.

How does a desperate lady convince a reluctant laird that she’s the perfect bride for him? She strikes a wager! If she can find seven husbands for seven sisters, the earl must marry her. But when Duncan gives her a deadline even the most audacious matchmaker can’t meet — one month — Teresa sets terms too: with each bridegroom she finds, the earl must pay her increasingly intimate rewards . . .

My Review
Miss Teresa Finch-Freeworth loves to make up stories as her life is boring. She has one suitor and he is just not for her. What she dreams of is a Highland Lord she saw once before. Duncan has no desire to marry again and now he has seven sisters he needs to see married. One problem is he is broke. Teresa strikes a deal with Duncan. If she can get all his sisters married within a month he will wed her. For each bridegroom Duncan also has to teach her some new intimacy. Duncan thinks he is safe from  marriage as who could get seven girls paired up within a month as the bet draws near an end he realizes Teresa is a very determined woman and now  he as to decide if he will keep his part.

Teresa is a delightful lady who is not like others in her time. She wants the freedom to make her own decisions and loves to make up stories. She has desires she is unsure about as well. Something a lady of that time doesn't think about. Duncan has been hurt in the past and is afraid to get close again. He is slowly coming to know his sisters and knows he wants the best for them. He is sexy and has a dark past as well. At times you get to see his funny side and you also see how much he cares for people in little things he does.

I love these type of books as they allow you to go back into another time. Plus the fact it has a sexy Scotsman in it and you have to love that. Teresa is what I would see myself as in the past. A person who wants freedom her time period doesn't allow. She makes a bet that while she wants it she is still at times scared. The author does a great job with this story and you get to see a little of what each sister is like and what they want. You can see love growing even if the people involved can't. I recommend this for anyone who love a historical romance with great characters.

Excerpt
It would have been remarkable if Teresa had not been quivering in her prettiest slippers.

Six pairs of eyes stared at her as though she wore horns atop her hat. She was astounded she had not yet turned and run. Her cheeks felt like flame, which was dispiriting; when she blushed her hair looked glaringly orange in contrast. And this was not the romantic setting in which she had long imagined they would again encounter each other—another ballroom glittering with candlelight, or a rose-trellised garden path in the moonlight, or even a field of waving heather aglow in sunshine. Instead now she stood in a dingy little flat three stories above what looked suspiciously like a gin house.

But desperate times called for desperate measures. She gripped the rim of her bonnet before her and tried to still her nerves.

The sister that had gone to fetch him reappeared in the doorway and smiled. “Here he is, then, miss.”

A heavy tread sounded on the squeaking floorboards. Teresa’s breaths fled.

Then he was standing not two yards away, filling the doorway, and . . .

she . . .

was . . .

speechless.

Even if words had occurred to her, she could not have uttered a sound. Both her tongue and wits had gone on holiday to the colonies.

No wonder she had dreamed.

From his square jaw to the massive breadth of his shoulders to his dark hair tied in a queue, he was everything she had ever imagined a man should be. Aside from the neat whiskers skirting his mouth that looked positively barbaric and thrillingly virile, he was exactly as she remembered him. In seeing him now, indeed, she realized that she had not forgotten a single detail of him from that night in the ballroom.

But more than his eyes and muscles and all those other manly bits of him drew her. Much more. The very fibers of her body seemed to recognize him, as though she already knew how it felt for him to take her hand. Just as on that night eighteen months ago, now an invisible wind pressed at her back, urging her to move toward him, like metal drawn to a magnet. As though they were meant to be touching.

Despite the momentous tumult within her, however, Teresa could see quite clearly in his intensely blue eyes a stark lack of any recognition whatsoever.

“Weel?” The single word was a booming accusation. “Who be ye, lass, and what do ye be wanting from me?”

It occurred to Teresa at this moment that she could either be thoroughly devastated by this unanticipated scenario and subsequently flee in utter shame, or she could continue as planned.

An image came to her: herself kneeling at the Reverend Elijah Waldon’s feet, offering his slippers while he sat in his favorite chair before the fire reading from Butler’s collected sermons.

She gripped her bonnet tighter.

“How do you do, my lord? I am Teresa Finch-Freeworth of Brennon Manor at Harrows Court Crossing in Cheshire.” She curtseyed upon legs that felt like pork aspic.

His brow creased. “And?”

“And . . .” It was proving difficult to breathe. “I have come here to offer to you my hand in marriage.”

Silence.

Complete stillness from the man and seven women staring at her.

A book slipped from a sister’s hand and clunked to the floor. “Pardon,” the sister mumbled.

“Why, Duncan, ye old trickster,” another sister exclaimed. “Ye’ve gone an found yerself an heiress to surprise us!”

He swung his head to her. “I’ve no—”

“I’m not an heiress.” It was only the second truth Teresa had spoken in a weeklong spree of creative inventions. She’d told her parents that Diantha had invited her to town for a visit. She’d told Diantha and Tobias that she needed new gowns and that Mama had sent her to London on a shopping lark for both of them. And she’d told Annie she was escaping Mr. Waldon, which actually was the truth.

She stepped forward, her heartbeats atrociously uneven. All eyes turned to her, including his, beautiful and so blue—like the most vibrant autumn sky—that it was difficult to think.

“I will have a marriage portion,” she said. “But while it is not shabby, it is not by any means a fortune.”

“How much is it?” a sister demanded.

“Sorcha!”

“Dinna be missish, Elspeth. If our brither’s set to wed her, we should all ken hou much money she’ll bring to the family. We’ve anly got one chance at this.” Sorcha’s black hair was pinned tight to her head. Of the seven plain gowns in the room, hers was the plainest.

“Well.” Teresa bit her lip. “I don’t know exactly how much it is. I only know that my mother, who spends far beyond her allowance every quarter, seems satisfied with the amount. So, I—”

He took a step toward her, effectively closing her throat with lock and key.

“I’m no set to wed anybody, Sorcha.” He looked directly at Teresa. “As this lass knows.” He tilted his head. “Dinna ye, miss?”

He was so large, his shoulders and arms straining at the fabric of his rather shabby coat and the muscles in his thighs defined in trousers that had probably seen too many seasons.

She was staring at his legs. Her gaze snapped up.

Her breath caught somewhere in the region of her ankles. The slightest crease had appeared in his right cheek.

“You are not set to wed me, of course,” she managed. “But I hope you will consider it.”

A gasp sounded from a sister of no more than seventeen. “Are ye a doxy then, miss?”

“Effie, hold yer tongue,” Sorcha said.

“Dinna ye remember? Mither was always going on an on about Father’s doxies an hou they always wanted him to keep them like little goodwifies in their own houses an such.” Effie brushed a lock of curly hair from her eyes to peer more closely at Teresa. “Mebbe our brither’s more like Father than we kent. Are ye our brither’s doxy, miss?”

“No!” she exclaimed at the same moment the earl said, “No.”

She looked at him hopefully. Hidden within his scowl, a grin seemed to lurk. But she was certainly imagining that. A gentleman would not find such a thing amusing.

“She’s a leddy, Effie,” the sister who’d dropped the book said.

“Hou do ye ken that, Abigail?” Effie challenged.

“She’s no wearing perfume, powder, or baubles,” Abigail said with great sense, Teresa thought.

“Una,” the earl said, “take yer sisters to the park.”

The one that had fetched him, who was about Teresa’s age with eyes like her brother’s, moved toward the door.

“But I want to stay an see what he says,” Effie complained.

“Me too.” This one was near enough in appearance to be Effie’s twin but smiling with an open friendliness at Teresa.

“Duncan—”

“Go, Sorcha. All o’ ye. Go.” He waved them toward the door.

“Come on nou. Ye heard our brither.” Una lifted a brow at the earl. He shook his head almost imperceptibly and returned his attention to Teresa.

Taking up threadbare cloaks and dart-mended shawls, each sister gave Teresa a curious perusal and headed out the door. Then she was alone with the man she had been dreaming of kissing her and touching her for eighteen months. But now that he stood before her, big and muscular and handsome and studying her intently, he was again abruptly a real man and not only a distant fantasy.

“What do ye have in mind, lass?”

She didn’t know what she had expected him to say, but this wasn’t it.

“I—” She cleared her throat. “I told you.” Her palms were so wet that her bonnet was slipping from her fingers. “I have marriage in mind.” And kisses. And touches of the most intimate sort.

He lifted a hand to his chin and his fingertips scratched the whiskers skirting his mouth. “Yer an odd one to be sure, lass.”

“I am not a lass. I am a lady.”

He swept her figure briefly. She wore her green and ivory pinstriped muslin with the lace collar and tiny sleeves to draw out her mossy eyes and show off her arms. She had even artfully draped a delicate shawl of cream fringe over her elbows. Earlier when she departed Diantha’s house claiming she was going to the shops she’d felt perfectly fetching.

Lord Eads did not appear impressed.

“Aye.” He nodded. “I’ll no doubt yer a gentleman’s daughter.”

“You needn’t doubt anything I say,” which was certainly a first for her with anybody and felt very odd indeed. “I am whom I have said and I wish only what I have indicated.”

“Anly, hm?” His eyes narrowed. “Lass, a leddy that walks into a stranger’s flat an—”

“You are not a stranger. Not—that is—a complete stranger.”

He tilted his head.

“You saw me at Lady Beaufetheringstone’s ball a year and a half ago.” Fire erupted in her cheeks. “You stared at me. And I . . .” She couldn’t breathe. “I stared at you.”

“Did ye, then?”

“I did. You don’t remember it?”

He stepped toward her. Up close he towered. Then he did what she’d been dreaming about for months: He touched her . . .

Crypto Love Blog Tour - Review, Excerpt & Giveaway

Hi everyone! Today I have a stop on the Crypto Love blog tour. There is a review of the book, an excerpt and a giveaway for you all.

Crypto Love
Book Two, The Justice Fraternity Chronicles
By: Stephanie Beck

Blurb:
Sidekick becomes hero to save superheroes everywhere.

Chris, aka Crypto Man, loves being a sidekick—especially the 'kicking' part. When he returns to his boyhood home to search for clues about a recent increase in villains coming from the area, he finds himself face to face with a beautiful woman, and for the first time he has a shot at being the lead hero.

Penna Banena always wanted to be a hero. She even gave up modeling to join The Warden's School for Superheroes. When she discovers it's not only a scam but is providing inside information to villains, she stays on to gather enough evidence to take the whole ring down.

Crypto Man's appearance throws her plan for a loop. He's blunt, tough, and everything she's ever hoped for in a man. And although romance has to take a backseat to defeating the bad guys, if Penna has her way Crypto Man's world will never be the same.

My Review
Crypto Man is returning home so he can look for clues as to why his town is being overrun with criminals. There has been an increase and all clues point to his hometown. Once he arrives there he meets Penna a woman training to be a super hero but seems to have no real power. She does have info for Crypto Man and works to help him solve the case. She is unlike most woman Crypto knows as she not only wants to play sidekick to him but wants to be as close as possible. As they hunt down the bad guys the romance the romance is put on hold but never far from their minds. Can they survive the battle to come to continue their romance?

Crypto Man is the joker of the bunch and loves a good fight. He is also the loner now that everyone seems to be paired up. He is not used to having woman throw themselves at him. Penna may not have super powers but she is a strong, smart sexy woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. She plays at being dumb but she isn't.

I liked this short story as you get to see more to Crypto. He is the main guy for this one. You get to see a sexy side of him as Penna puts the moves on him. This story may be short but you really get a lot of action in this book. I love the idea of a series of superheroes and liked the first book. This one is a nice addition. The What the bad guy does is hard to believe as it is not what you would expect from someone like them. I like the chemistry between Penn and Crypto as they belong together even if they both don't know it yet. If you want a delightful story about superheroes, one with lots of action, or just a short sexy read with a good plot try this one out.

Penna snorted before she could hold it back.

Chris looked up, his eyebrow cocked. "What was that for?"

"I can be your sidekick? Really? You are the definition of sidekick. In regular terms, you're also about as far from an independent hero as a guy can get."

"No crap, but it's one little thing. I can take lead on one thing, especially if you already did all the leg work." He wrinkled his nose. "I don't like that you know so much about me."

She couldn't erase her memory and wouldn't, not even for him. "Sorry."

"Fine. So you'll be my sidekick—standard rules, which I assume you know?"

Her heart raced. She never, ever, even in her wildest dreams, really believed she'd be a superhero. Now she was being offered the opportunity of a lifetime—Crypto Man's sidekick. Even if it was for one small mission, she'd have it.

"I know the standard rules, but I'd like to add a Dinah-Go clause."

"And that is?"

She grinned, looking him up and down again, imagining him in his blue stretch suit as opposed to the jeans and t-shirt he currently wore. "It counters the 'no fraternizing with the sidekick' clause, leaving the door open for any kind of seduction either of us might want."

He laughed, but then stopped, looking at her as if she'd grown a horn. "You were serious? What the hell could a girl like you want with a beast like me?"

For an instant she thought the problem was in her. Maybe he didn't like stacked blondes with rocking curves, but it sounded as if he might have a problem with confidence. She stood again, knowing full well what the heels and the nude catsuit did for her body. She stepped to him, nearly eye to eye.

"I could tell you all about the things I want to do to you." She ran her hands up his sides, tracing her fingers up his muscled abdomen. "Or I could show you."

Operation Wedding Crash Release Day Blast

Hi everyone! Today I have a stop on the release day blast for Operation Wedding Crash. It sounds like a great book!

Operation Wedding Crash
By: Sandra Sookoo

Blurb
Until death—or a secret—make them part.

Nora “Can’t Say No” Lenhart’s life is way past complicated. To add stress to everything, she’s just been appointed maid of honor for the upcoming wedding of the World’s Worst Boss and her ex is the best man. Looks like she’ll need to buy stock in an antacid company and try her best to ditch the green-eyed monster of wedding envy.

Camden Webber is an FBI agent with a massive chip on his shoulder—namely not being able to forget the woman whose usual inability to say no didn’t keep her from shooting down his proposal five years before. Though he has jaded views on weddings and marriage, Cam agrees to stand at his best friend’s side.

When Nora and Camden are thrown together at an engagement dinner, despite their tumultuous romantic history, they devise a plan to break up the ill-suited bride and groom. As the big day nears, emotions hit a breaking point, proving that wedding planning is more suited to a reality show and while happy endings are optional, they exist amidst the rubble, if the couple looks hard enough.

Deceiving The Witch Next Door - Review

Deceiving the Witch Next Door by Melissa Bourbon Ramirez

Blurb
Down-on-her-luck witch Storie Bell never thought the biggest threat to her future would be Reid Malone, the very man she’d run from years before. After striking it rich in Texas shale, he’s back in town, and he seems hell-bent on getting in the way of her bookstore’s grand opening. A witch trying to blend in in a small southern town is hard enough, but now he’s seriously testing her strict No Kissing Mortal Men policy. But even witches don’t have a spell for that.

Reid knows there’s much more to Storie than meets the eye. But right now he has only one mission: to infiltrate her shop so he can snatch the elusive secret ingredient to his father’s million-dollar moonshine recipe. Once he does, he can go back to the city and get out of his small hometown, a place in which he has no future.

But as the days go by, he can’t help falling for Storie in every way…and every encounter brings him closer to finding out what happens when you try to deceive a witch.

My Review
Storie Bell has moved around a lot. Every time she couldn't control her powers she would move on. She is a witch an knows she has to keep it a secret. When she is left a building in what she considers her hometown by her father she knows it is just what she needs. Now along with her best friend and her friends two kids. They are going to open up a place to sale books and have a cafe with it. Things seem to be going goo d until Reid Malone shows up. Reid and Stormie have a past and he pushes her no kissing mortal men policy to the limits. He isn't just there to torment stormy. He has a secret agenda and he tries to keep it a secret and have Stormie as well. Just when the business seems to be coming together a person from the past shows up and it will change everything.

Stormie is a witch with powers she can't control. I love how she tries to hold them in but it never seems to happen. She is a beautiful woman who besides the powers problems has a few others as well. She works hard because she knows she can't use her powers. She tries her best to help her friend and she is wants to let go with Reid but knows she can't. Reid is a hard one to get to know. What you do know is he is a sexy rich man with some secrets. He is attracted to Stormie and she has always been the one that got away. You for sure know he wants her. The tension between the two is something to behold.

I really liked this book as it is a sweet light hearted read and just what is needed sometimes. It has a witch who can't control or use her powers half the time and a sexy man who wants to get on and under her skin. As the title says it's hard to deceive a witch. When what Reid is really after I expected more fury to fly. I liked the plot and how it all ties together it made a very enjoyable read. I was surprised at the ending I didn't see that coming and hope the author continues with the others stories. I think anyone who likes a sexy, sweet book with a paranormal twist will enjoy this one. It is a quick read but one that hits the spot.

Holland Springs Series Book Three
By: Marquita Valentine

Blurb
What an earl wants isn’t always what he gets…

British Billionaire and modern day earl of Spenserfield, Sebastian Romanov only wants one thing in life: To reclaim his position as president of Romanov Industries. But first he has to clean up his reputation to convince the Board that he’s a dependable bloke who’s willing to put the company above everything, including his personal life. Finally given an excuse to sort things out with his estranged twin brother, he boards a jet to Holland Springs, North Carolina, never dreaming he’d find the solution to his all his problems in the town’s sexy caterer, Daisy Barnes.

She’s going to serve him his just desserts…

Daisy Barnes, owner of The Sweet Spot, has plans. Plans that don’t include posing as some arrogant—yet sexy as hell—earl’s fiancée. But when unexpected insurance bills –to the tune of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars—from her mother’s unsuccessful battle with cancer come due, she’s forced to accept his offer and his money. Only problem for Daisy—underneath that cold exterior is a man that can set her on fire with just one touch.

As Sebastian and Daisy spend more time together, they find it harder and harder to not give into temptation. Soon neither can tell where the fake romance ends and true love begins…

My Review
The earl of Spenserfield, Sebastian Romanov has many issues to deal with. He wants to become president of his family company again after he did some bad things, he wants to get a relationship with his brother again and he wants Daisy. He has trouble doing these things because he has been told he is just like his father and believes them. he doesn't like to show his feelings and comes off as rude and overbearing. Daisy has a business called The Sweet Shoppe and has had her heart broke before. Now when her business seems to be going good she receives some large insurance bills with no way to pay.Sebastian has a way to help her. he wants her to pretend to be his fiance to help get his company back. What they both don't plan on is secrets may tear them apart just when they may not want to just pretend anymore.

Sebastian is like two different men rolled into one. He can be sweet and caring and other times nothing short of an ass. One thing is for sure no matter how he is acting is he is one sexy man. There more you read this book the more you begin to understand  him. Daisy is a caring person as you see from the start. She is loyal to her friends and will do anything to help them. She has a good heart but not a lot of self confidence. Both these characters are broke in some way and really seem to bring the best and worse out in each other. I liked both of them very much.

I so enjoyed this book. Getting to see all sides of the story from both characters really helped get to know them. By the time you finish reading you feel as if you have just met new friends. The author does a great job in writing this book. You feel you are seeing these things for yourself whether its a yummy cupcake or a visit to funny named inn. You get a great love story that is packed with secrets, heartache and tender moments. Not to mention some very sexy scenes that leave you panting for more. Have to love a tattooed man. I love forward to getting the other books in this series to see what all I have missed. You can read this as a stand alone so no worries. You still will fall in love with this book just like I did.
