A PROMISE OF MORE: The Disgraced Lords Series
A Loveswept Historical Romance
Written by Bronwen Evans

Blurb
In the second novel in Bronwen Evans’s sexy new Disgraced Lords series, two very independent souls find themselves fighting to resist a deepening passion.

When Beatrice Hennessey sets out to confront Lord Coldhurst, the notorious rogue who killed her brother in a duel, her intent is to save her family from destitution. She’s determined to blackmail the man into a loveless marriage. She’ll make the wealthy Lord Coldhurst pay for the rest of his life. But while greeting his ship, Beatrice takes a tumble into the Thames—only to be fished out by a pair of strong masculine arms that tempt her to stay locked in their heated embrace forever. That is, until she realizes those arms belong to Sebastian Hawkestone, Lord Coldhurst himself.

The little drowned mermaid has an interesting proposition indeed; one that Sebastian is surprised to find quite agreeable. Although he’s had women more beautiful, she is pleasing to the eye, and besides, it’s time he fathered an heir. Beatrice promises to be the ideal wife; a woman who hates him with an all-consuming passion is far too sensible to expect romance. However, it isn’t long before Sebastian’s plan for a marriage of convenience unravels, and he’s caught up in the exhilarating undertow of seduction.

My Review
Beatrice doesn't;t have anything to lose when she confronts Lord Coldhurst and tells him he should wed her because he killed her brother. She knows Coldhurst will probably leave her in the country while he goes about his life but she needs his help. Sebastian has just returned and thinks marrying Beatrice is a good idea. He does need heirs and he has no desire to find love. He only wants a lady to give him children and leave him alone. They soon find they are happy in the bedroom part of their lives, but it is short lived as they have a killer after them. They have to work out the clues and figure it out before they get killed. The more they work together the more they start to care about each other. That scares Sebastian more than  killer does.

I really liked the first book in the Disgraced Lords series and this is a great sequel. Beatrice has a reputation for being pushy and she tries not to let it hurt her but at times it does. Even thinking Sebastian has killed her brother she still begins to care for him. She wants more from him but he is constantly pushing her away. She has a secret of her own and tries to keep it from him. Sebastian I have to say for most of the book I didn't like. He treated Beatrice bad and didn't care if he hurt her feelings. He is afraid of love and everything that comes with it. He did grow on me but it took a while. There is just s much action in this book as the first and I loved reading every bit of it. I can't wait to see what all happens and how the next Lord does. If you like a historical romance with a mystery and lots of action be sure to try this one.
