Catching Stardust
Falling Stars Book One
By: Heather Thurmeier

Blurb
Maia’s been banished to Earth from her place among the stars as the eldest sister of Pleiades... and all because Orion won’t stop chasing her around the universe. Now Maia has to find her way back to the stars with only the help of hunky astronautics scientist Zander while staying hidden from Orion.

Zander never expected the discovery of his lifetime to fall into his lap, but when Maia also falls into his bed, he knows there’s no way he can turn the goddess who has stolen his heart into a science project. With his best friend ready to sell him out for fame, her wannabe lover Orion chasing after her on Earth, and time running out fast, Zander must fight to keep Maia safe long enough to get her home.

If going home means losing Zander, is Maia ready to go back to the stars?

My Review
Maia is on Earth for reasons that are not her fault. All because Orion doesn't want to take no for an answer. She just wants to get back to her home. What she doesn't expect is to fall for the good-looking scientist Zander. While she hides from Orion, Zander and Maia grow closer. Maia knows it will never work between them. What she fears is if she does make it home she will leave her heart behind on Earth.

Maia is fantastic! A Goddess who is strong, sweet and sexy. She has remarkably beautiful eyes but doesn't seem to show just how special she is. I love reading about her. Zander is the sexy scientist you secretly hope there is more of out their in the world outside of books. He is super nice, smart and he sure can sizzle up the pages. Orion is a jerk out for his own gain and you just know you are not going to like him from the word go.

I loved this book. Gives a different spin on Gods and Goddesses that I loved reading about. The book will suck you in and have you wanting more of it. Maia tries her best to hide what she is and fight the attraction to Zander. They have such great chemistry together and you keep hoping as you read this will be the chapter it finally happens for them. I have never been real big on stars and such but this book made me want to look things up about the stars in our sky. The book isn't only about love it has a good plot and is an excellent start to a series. I can not wait to read the other sisters stories and to see what happens with Maia and Zander.

The Cupcake Diaries
Sweet On You, Recipe for Love, Taste of Romance
By: Darlene Panzera

The Cupcake Diaries Book One: SWEET ON YOU
(Avon Impulse; on-sale May 7th, 2013; e-book ISBN: 9780062242662)
Blurb

Fans of Debbie Macomber will love THE CUPCAKE DIARIES: Sweet on You, the first in the new and exciting three-book romantic comedy, by Darlene Panzera. Set in the small seaport town of Astoria, Oregon, Sweet on You begins the delicious and charming mini-series with Andi Burke’s adventure through love and cupcakes.

Sisters Andi and Kim, along with best friend Rachel, haven’t had the best luck in recent months: unemployment, divorce, and heartbreak. After so many disappointments, what can the trio do to change things around? Open up a much needed gourmet cupcake shop of course!

Andi has always had a dream—a kitchen big enough to bake and dance in, while still being able to support her dear daughter Mia, and hopefully find true love (one day). Could opening up a cupcake shop make it all a reality?

Together, the best friends are determined to open up Creative Cupcakes. But, with no business experience or money to finance the project it seems their dream won’t come true. Until, Jake Hartman, the hunky Astoria Sun reporter, offers to partner up with them.

Trying to hold it together as a single mom hasn’t been easy, and the thought of dating hasn’t crossed Andi’s mind since her divorce. But, the way Jake keeps looking at her might change her mind. After all, what could go wrong?

Plenty! There's a shady tattoo parlor behind their shop and a crowd of crazy Zumba dancers out front—ready to ruin them. The trio is forced to think quick to counter the attacks from Zumba fanatic Pat, while still finding a way to bring in business. It seems the only thing that’s going right is Andi's blooming romance with Jake. As if things weren’t hard enough, Jake’s media crew captures a story that could shut them both down forever.

My Review
Three close friends have been having a hard time lately. They each are struggling to make ends meets and do something with their lives. During an annual birthday tradition they get the idea to open up a cupcake shop. First they have to get the money to open the shop and then keep it going. For Andi this is her dream. Raising a daughter alone with no help she just knows the shop is the answer to her prayers.  Andi has to deal with attacks from a health nut, her father not believing in her, making enough to pay her rent and also deal with her feelings for Jake who helped her get the business going.

Andi is a character some of us can relate to. She is struggling to do it on her own with help from her best friend Rachel and sister Kim. They are not in to good a shape their selves but they try. Andi is a sweet woman who is afraid to open up her feelings again. She was treated badly by her ex husband and her father never gives her a chance. She is a hard worker and wants to have success so bad. Her best friends are amazing woman as well and I can't wait to read their stories. Jake is smart, good looking and interested in Andi. He does all he can to help all three achieve their dream. He has had a tragic past as well but is trying to move on.

This is a quick wonderful read. I love these girls and got attached to them very quickly. They are very easy to relate to. At times they are sad and at times they can be funny but they are always their for each other. The story has a cute plot even with a villain to not like. You hope for the best for Andi the whole time you read and hope she opens her eyes to what she could have with Jake. Anyone wanting a great, quick read with amazing characters should read this.  I love it and can't wait to see what the other girls get into and what will happen to Andi and the shoppe.

HIS BROKEN ANGEL
(The Glorious Victorious Darcys 1.5)
Bonus e-Novella (digital only)

BLURB:
From the author of Her Sky Cowboy comes a sexy new novella about rebellion, redemption, and the healing powers of love and tolerance amid budding global chaos.

Doc Blue has never had it easy. Born a Freak, the offspring of a Vic—a native Victorian—and a Mod—a time traveler from the future—he’s lived on the fringes of society, hiding his true identity and preternatural healing abilities from even his closest friends. His brief support of the Freak rebellion has only left him with even more problems, losing him both his job and one of his greatest allies, the Sky Cowboy, Tucker Gentry. So when Tuck’s kid sister, Lily, ends up blinded in an air skirmish on her way from America to England, Doc jumps at the opportunity to be the one to rescue her and use his powers to mend her wounds.

Curing Lily proves harder than anticipated, and Doc realizes that to restore her sight he will have to spill his biggest secret and embrace his Freak nature like never before. But, with Lily’s help, Doc may be able to reach the full potential of his abilities, heal Lily’s broken heart, and learn, finally, how to open his.

Includes a preview of the next Glorious Victorious Darcys novel, His Clockwork Canary.

EXCERPT:
“I’m sorry I got you in this fix,” Lily said, fiercely conscious of their intimate and highly inappropriate position. Arms and legs entangled. Her backside pressed against his groin.

“I’m here on account of my own actions, angel. I promise I’ll get us both out.” He shifted and squeezed her waist, pulling her even closer. “Jasper just ran off. Guess he’s heading for the Crusader. Don’t know what that dig looks like, but she must be flashy or big. P.J. said she’d attract attention.”

“What’s this dig look like?” Lily asked.

“Let’s put it this way. It’s called the Bullet.”

“Sleek and cylindrical.”

“With wings and a tail and some sort of rocket booster. P.J.’s firing up now.”

Lily heard the rumble clean through the shield. The cramped dirigible vibrated and shimmied and Lily braced for takeoff. “Are you scared, King?”

“You forget I’ve been riding with your brother for the past few years. If we weren’t chasing and apprehending outlaws, we were clashing with sky pirates and ALE. This is nothing. Although P.J’s flying ain’t for the fainthearted.”

“I’m not fainthearted.” Lily licked her lips. “Not usually.”

“I believe you, but flying blind is discombobulating. Focus on my voice,” he said close to her ear as the vessel lurched forward. “I’ll talk you through it.”

For a minute she was breathless, speechless. Her mind and body reeled with the forceful launch and the sudden unexpected speed as they shot through the air. Just as he’d promised, Doc described everything. The three ships that constituted skytown breaking apart and heading in separate directions , several other smaller digs shooting off every which way . . .

“Ah, the Crusader.”

“Flashy and big?” she asked, holding tight to Doc’s hands.

“Beauty of a zeppelin wrapped in an intricate iron grill. Topside propeller and rear rocket thrusters. Gondola’s loaded with cannons and the zepp’s fitted to carry small fighter digs like this one.”

“How . . . how can you be sure it’s the Crusader?” Lily asked as the Bullet lurched right.

“The big S welded into the intricate grill work.” Doc sighed. “Caped Crusader. Man of Steel. Superman. A twentieth-century superhero. Pa used to liken Jasper to the fictional icon. Thing is Superman used his powers for the greater good.”

“For Jasper,” Lily said as she struggled with a dizzy spell, “emancipating Freaks is the greater good.”

“You’re a good soul, Lily Gentry.”

Doc kissed the back of her head and the dizziness intensified. Only it wasn’t from the topsy-turvy ride. Cannon fire exploded in the distance and Lily burst with a fierce need to live in the moment. This moment. “I’ve never been kissed.”

“What?”

“If this ends badly, I want something good to remember when I meet my maker.”

“Don’t talk nonsense, angel. P.J.’ll get us out of here. If nothing else, her pride demands it.”

Ignoring the ache in her ribs and the pain in her leg, Lily swiveled round best she could. “Kiss me proper-like, King.”

“Lily.”

She could feel the warmth of his breath. His mouth, so close. His body tensed as she leaned in, but she didn’t pull back. She waited . . . and when the Bullet shook with the blast of return fire, she took what she wanted. A kiss. Though her mouth glanced off Doc’s, she tasted a hint of peppermint and slice of heaven. Bliss.

He groaned then, cradled her face, and pressed his lips to hers—firm and true. He kissed her proper-like. The kind of kiss she’d read about in dime novels. The kind she’d seen stolen between lovers in the park. Heat radiated through her body, her skin tingled, and her blood burned. He teased the seam of her mouth with his tongue, and Lily’s lungs near about burst through her ribs.

Inspired by their precarious circumstance and her uncertain future, she parted her lips and welcomed Doc’s tongue. The awfulness of the world faded away as the compassionate healer gifted her with sizzling passion.

The Bullet bucked then arced, and Lily’s heart followed.

Raksha Blog Tour - Review & Excerpt

Hey everyone! Today I have a stop on the Raksha Blog Tour. I have a review of the book for you all and an excerpt.
Blurb
She has no name.

She has her knives, her training, and her halo.

The first and second give her the ability to defeat the opponents she is pitted against each month. The third frees her from pain and fear. From any kind of emotion at all. Everything is as it should be. Everything is as it should be, until…

Fear… Pain… Anger… Happiness… Desire… Guilt…

Love.

When a newly named Kit escapes the Sanctuary after killing her best friend, the last thing she needs is another knife in her hand. Or Ryka, the damaged, beautiful blond boy, whom she refuses to let save her. The sights and sounds of Freetown are new, yet one thing is familiar: the matches. The only difference? Where the blood in the Sanctuary landed only on the Colosseum floor, Kit will quickly learn that a river of red runs through Freetown’s very streets.

Without her halo, the inhabitants of Kit’s new home consider her saved, but is that really the case? Would she be better off free of the guilt associated with all the blood on her hands, or is the love of one boy worth living through all the pain?

Raksha is the call of the dead. It is the rumbling chant for fresh blood from the other side, the demand for sacrifice. The Colosseum is behind Kit. The fighting pits await.

My Review
She grew up training for fights. It doesn't bother her because of the Halo she wears keeps her from feeling any emotions. After she is paired to fight her trainer she wins the match and he loses his life. This triggers the start of her life when he breaks her Halo and she begins to feel. She escapes as he wished, takes the name he gave her of Kit and comes across Ryka. Even though she doesn't want to kill again or use her knifes she doesn't want to give them up. Ryka takes her to Freetown where everyone lives different than from where she is from. Here the woman don't fight and they don't carry knifes. She is still learning to deal with her emotions and not sure of what to think of this place. Ryka is a fighter in Freetown and one of the favorites. She may soon have to use her knifes again as trouble seems to be really brewing in her new home. It might not be as safe there as people wished. She now has to decide if she wants to put the Halo back on to get rid of her emotions or leave it off and sort them out on her own. The fighting has just begin again for Kit as Raksha is called out.

Kit is a tough girl who really is empty on the inside until she gets her emotions. She has always done as she is told. I love how she is a girl who can hang with the best. When she gets free of the Halo she really struggles to figure out her emotions. Being a fighter all her life anger is one she really has problems with. She also gets to know what guilt is like. I know it had to be hard on her to struggle with all of these and really not knowing how to handle them. I can see why she might want to put the Halo back on. Ryka at first seems a little cocky thinking no girl can fight. When you see how he was brought up you see why he acts this way. He and Kit are always arguing about every little thing. They both have things to learn about each other and learn to accept about them. I love reading about these two. It at times is like a love hate relationship.

This story starts right off with a bang. You get to see just what kind of place Kit lives in and it isn't a good one to most people. She is pretty much treated like a slave doing what she is told and fighting for her life. Sanctuary is a hard place to live and she really has no one to show her love. Freetown at first seems a whole lot better place but the more you read the book the more you realize it has it's very dark side as well. The people there don't use Halos but a lot of them are evil underneath and they have ways of dealing with people they don't want around. This book is a very thrilling read that has lots of action in it. It is very well written and I can't wait to see more of this fascinating world. I just know things have only got started. It had a twist near the end that I did not see coming and was shocked by it. I love how the author put that in there. If you like books with dynamic characters and a fast paced story line give this a try.

Excerpt
I focus on him and clench my dagger in my hand. The sea of voices swells, and I’m certain I can pick out Miranda’s deranged shrieking, yelling over and over again, “End him! End him!”

Falin Asha’s brown eyes fix on me and it looks for a second like he’s crying. That can’t be right, though. I hover just out of his reach, staring at him. “What’s going on?”

He smiles crookedly and brushes his hair back out of his face. “It’s going to be okay, all right? Remember that.”

I’m so thrown by his comment that I am utterly unprepared for what he does next. The knife in his hand snakes out toward me, and I skitter away from him to the left. He knows how I react, however, and he moves with me, my mirror image. He darts for me and does the unthinkable, something that spells the end to the fight and me along with it: he grabs hold of my striking arm at the wrist. A low gasp runs around the Colosseum, growing in pitch until it’s a rushing echo in my ears. I try and fumble for the Balisong on my belt, hoping I can flick it open and use it, but Falin Asha is there before me. He doesn’t knock my hand away, just holds his over it. He pulls me closer to him and sucks in a deep breath.

“Don’t let them see,” he hisses. With that, I feel a twisting movement between our two bodies, and then his eyes go wide. He looks stunned, the way Elin children do when they fall and they’re unsure whether they’re supposed to cry or not. I look down and see his own knife submerged up to the handle in his stomach. A cracking, bubbling noise comes out of his throat, and he smiles slowly at me. The whole Colosseum has gone deadly silent. I can think nothing other than this: What have you done? What on earth have you gone and done?

The Earl In My Bed Tour - Review

Hey everyone! Today I have a stop on the review tour for The Earl In My Bed by Sophie Jordan.

The Earl in my Bed
By: Sophie Jordan

Blurb
Intended for one man ... All her life, everyone assumed Paget Ellsworth, the vicar’s daughter, would marry the Earl of Winningham’s youngest son. And when he left for war with his older brother, Jamie, words and promises were not necessary. She would wait. But destined for another … Four years pass, and the death of his father forces Jamie home to take up the reins as the new earl, leaving his brother fighting on the front lines a world away.

Maddening, infuriating, sexy Jamie makes Paget question her feelings. One glimpse, one word from him awakens desire in her heart. When a simple kiss spirals out of control at the annual Valentine’s Day ball, she realizes the man she never wanted is the man she needs ... but will Paget cast aside all she’s ever thought to be true to win the man of her dreams?

My Review
Paget grew up with hanging with two great boys. One of them Owen everyone has paired them up in their minds to marry one day. While Owen is away at war she tries her best to think of reasons not to marry him. She does care for him but not in that way. She realizes she does have a spark with Jamie, Owen's older half brother. Jamie has always been mean to her growing up and she has never forgave him for that. One kiss soon cause them to see each other in a different light but there is still the matter of Owen who everyone thinks Paget should wait on and what is keeping him going during the war.

Paget is a character I enjoy reading about. She is not conventional, cares for her family and friends but is hiding so much fire inside her. She does some great things I love in this book. Included slinging some not so nice stuff. Jamie seems like a cold hearted jerk and I wasn't sure how I would feel about him. However you get to see why he acts the way he does and that completely won me over. Not to mention he is very hot.

This is a quick fantastic read. I enjoyed the characters and all their actions. You get a few chuckles as you hear about them growing up. The love is so wonderful and written very well. I love the plot the way you get to hear both Jamie and Paget's POV. It gives it a nice touch and you get to learn about them both. Paget struggles with what to do and I am glad to see it because it lets you know she does care for how it will effect Owen. Jamie really once he sets his mind on something he goes for it. My only complaint with this book is I wish it was longer but that is a good thing wanting more.

Angel of Syn Review Tour - Review, Excerpt & Giveaway

Hey all! Today I have a stop on the review tour for Angel of Syn by Mertianna Georgia. Along with the review I have an excerpt and a giveaway for you all.

Angel of Syn
by Mertianna Georgia

BLURB:
Contemporary witch Cara Augustine goes international and inter-dimensional, from San Francisco to France to an alternate Eden-like dimension, in this second book of the Synemancer series.

Cara is a fugitive, pursued by the Portalkind police for breaking a major covenant. When she accidently made a werewolf her witch’s familiar, it amounted to enslaving a human. And the punishment is death. On the run for her life, she and her companions stumble into a strange paradise dimension. But they quickly find the dangerous world is filled with strange creatures, deadly and beautiful. And, because she’s quickly learning a Synemancer’s life is never simple. Cara has to deal with an amorous Nephilim (half-angel half-witch), a dangerously deranged French werewolf, and the darkly handsome Nightkind she just might love. Each powerful supernatural man has his own reasons for wanting to possess Cara, body and soul. But if the Portalkind police catch her, she’ll be in a fight for her life.

My Review
Cara seems to always be in the middle of something. From having three sexy guys all want her, to getting chased by the Portalkind police for turning Tom into a familiar, and being hunted by fractions from all kinds of places. She is struggling to get her powers under control, keep her family and friends safe, figure out her love life and to stay alive her self.

I really liked Cara. She seems to have so much going on in her life and you might think what does she do to get into these situations. Really most of the time they are not her fault. She has the sexy side of her even if she isn't the prettiest one around. Her powers are so strong that I don't think she has even tapped into them all. She truly cares so much for her family and friends and will do anything to protect them. Tom is a werewolf who is just so sweet at times. He reminds me of a pup as you can see that playful side of him. He also has that charm that you can tell will make him a favorite with the ladies. Roman is so sexy and powerful. He knows what he wants and is going to make sure he gets it no matter what. Azreal is the only one I am not sure how I feel about. He is a great protector and you can tell he is sexy but I am looking forward to seeing how far he will go to try and get Cara.

I have not read the first book but did not get to lost in this one. You can tell it picks up where the first one ends. I got the feel for the book by the end of the second chapter. I will just say this book has so much going on it, you won't want to put it down. The action is constant and fast pace. Seems like something is always happening. You get a great feel for the characters and the lengths they will go through for each other. I liked the plot as it combines all kinds of different paranormal creatures and how their world is. Some of them even being paranormal seem small minded and scared of anything they don't understand. This book does have a few hard scenes I wouldn't recommend to people wanting a light read but if you want a harder book that keeps you wondering what next, with some sexy men give it a try.

Excerpt
Bart straightened from his defensive semi-crouch, still eyeing the Hounds warily. I glanced around the room to see if the orbs were here, but they were nowhere in sight. The mirror chimed and shimmered for the umpteenth time since I’d come into the room. A tall, pale man dressed in black and wearing a black backpack walked into the room. Azrael stood silently on Amelia’s hardwood floor, and by the expression on his beautiful face, he was angry enough to chew spells and spit out hexes. He quickly scanned the room. His ice-blue eyes focused on me and I had his full attention. All Hades was about to break loose. With two weres, two Hellhounds, and a Nightkind in the room, the situation was about to get bloody.

Excerpt:
Damon knelt before them.

"Will she get better? Will she…" Prince’s voice trailed off.

Her eyes locked on Damon’s face as he regarded her thoughtfully. His hand came up and she flinched as it rested on the top of her head. No pain came. She felt…nothing. If he tried to speak to her, she couldn’t hear him.

"No," he said finally. "There has been damage to the brain. There is bleeding and swelling inside."

Prince’s cry startled her, almost as much as the sudden clutching of his arms around her. "Can you do anything," he choked out. "Please, I am responsible. I can not…I will pay–"

Damon chuckled. "It is not your life that needs saving." He stared at Prince for a long moment. "I see." He shook his head. "Perhaps I was wrong and she isn’t the one. I read so few pages of the book." He turned to Kei.

"No," the Fey said. "I don’t remember."

"Pity."

"Dragos, I beg of you," Prince began again.

"The Elven prince begs, and for a human. How very far you have fallen." He looked down at her again.

Blinking up at him, she tried to get her scattered thoughts to work. She’d barely comprehended what he’d said past the inference she was dying. The words sent an icy chill through her body. Terror crawled through her, speeding her heart. Sweat broke out on her forehead and all she could hear was her increasingly frantic breathing.

Kei startled her, leaning forward over her to press a kiss to her forehead. She tilted her head back, trying to see him.

"I’m with you."

Damon’s fingers brushes her cheek, drawing her attention back to him. "Do you wish to live, young Arowyn?"

Words refused to pass her lips. Somehow she managed to nod. She didn’t know what the cost would be, certainly there would be one. Right then, she didn’t care. Rot it all, she wanted to live!

"Very well." He regarded her thoughtfully for a moment. "Dragos rarely heal others. I do know the magic, but it is difficult. Your story has barely begun. I find I would actually attempt it, just to see what you might become and how it will unfold."

He sat back and gestured to the pile of furs next to him. "Lay her down. This will take some time and I’ll need no distractions."

Prince carefully set her amongst the furs, arranging her arms so her hands rested on her chest, tucking stray locks of hair behind her ears. Leaning forward, he rested his forehead for a moment against hers.

"Get well, Arowyn."

Bo appeared next, smoothing the hair back on the top of her head and squeezing one of her hands. "You can do this, pup."

Garen pressed his wet nose against her temple. If he spoke, she didn’t hear him.

Kei pushed the wolf aside and took her face in his hands. His eyes glowed with that strange orange inner light. Tears streaked down his cheeks. Despite the awkward position he leaned down and held her close for a moment. "Remember our promises," he whispered in her. "I’m always with you." He choked on a sob and squeezed her tightly again. "I love you," he whispered fiercely before quickly pulling away.

She wished she could speak. More than anything, she wanted to tell him she loved him, too. She wanted to tell all of them she did. Tears filled her eyes and slid down her face.

Damon knelt beside her and turned her head to look at him. "I will do what I can," he said. "However I can’t guarantee it will work. I have never tried to heal a human before. Understand?"

She managed a faint nod and pressed her quivering lips together.

He glanced up and gestured the others away. "Stand back and be silent." His eyes found hers again. "Don’t fight me this time, little one. Fall into my eyes…"

Blinking once more to clear the tears away, she tried to do as he asked. Damon’s eyes were strange enough she found it not difficult to stare. They had vertical slits and no whites at all. The iridescent color was a wash of blue-green with streaks of gold and red. The colors began to swirl, making her dizzy as she tried to watch them. A comforting thrum emanated from his chest, soothing her as his power wrapped around her. Her thoughts drifted into nothing.
