Heart of the Incubus - Review

Heart of the Incubus (Demons of Infernum #3.5)
by Rosalie Lario

Blurb
Biochemist Cresso Taylor lives the sort of lifestyle most men would envy—he has wealth, natural incubus charm, and more women than he can handle. But it’s not enough anymore. Not after meeting Genevieve Russell, the sexy scientist who works with him at Elcorp Laboratory. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with him.

After her fiancĂ© broke her heart, Genevieve has had enough of womanizers. She’s determined to steer clear of sexy-as-sin Dr. Taylor, despite the fact that his incubus allure makes her want to rip his clothes off. But when a secret admirer’s affection turns to the macabre with threatening notes and grisly gifts, Cresso appoints himself her protector. As she and Cresso hunt her stalker, she discovers there’s a lot more to the sensual incubus than she ever imagined.

My Review
Genevieve is a brilliant scientist who has closed her life off to men. Her ex fiance ruined her trust in them and broke her heart. She can't deny she is attracted to Biochemist Cresso. She tries to fight her fellings for him but it is hard to do when he is an incubus. She knows they don't stay faithful and have to feed. When she is threatened he vows to protect her. Cresso may be an inncubus but he wants Genevieve for much more. He fights wanting others as she is all he wants. As they work closely together to find who is stalking her Genevieve sees there is more to him than she thought.

I really enjoyed this book as it has a sexy scientist who you can't help but be charmed by. You see right away he has a thing for Genevieve even if she holds back. They have a wonderful chemistry between them you love to watch. Yes I know it's a book but it is very well written to where you can picture things clearly. As they grow closer together you see just what kind of bond they have for each other. The hunt for the stalker keeps it from just being a love story. You also have a mystery to figure out as you try to see who the sicko is. I thought I had it figured out a few times but i was wrong. The author does a great ob in the surprise. If you like paranormal romance with a great plot pick this one up. You will want a Cresso for your own.

Beg Me To Slay - Review

Beg Me to Slay
by Lisa Kessler

Blurb
He’ll slay her demons, but it may cost her heart…

Four years ago Tegan Ashton was attacked. Determined never to be a victim again, she devotes her life to martial arts and self-defense. When her assailant returns to finish what he started, only one person can help her.

Gabe is a private investigator by day and demon slayer by night. After losing loved ones, he vows to defend people from a threat they don’t realize exists.

The relationship is supposed to be strictly business, but fighting demons together stirs up emotions they never expected. Turns out demon slaying is a breeze compared to facing their scarred pasts and even worse - hearts.

My Review
Tegan was attacked four years ago by something people called her crazy over. She has spent her life since then training on martial arts and defense. She teaches a class for children and hopes things continue to go smoothly. That won't happen as she sees her attacker again and knows he is after her again. She hires a PI who also specializes in paranormal stuff. Gabe isn't just a PI he is also a demon hunter. He knows Tegan was attacked by a demon and he knows he has to stay close to her to protect her. They try to maintain a distance but it is hard to do when they both help each other and begin to fall for each other. There is more to Tegan than even she knows.

Tegan has in some ways let her attack keep her from living a real life. She has become physically stronger but is afraid to let anyone get close to her. When faced with the fact paranormal things are real she takes it pretty well. She knew her attacker wasn't normal. She won't be told to sit back on the side lines when danger appears she jumps right in to help. Gabe has his own past that haunts him. He doesn't want anyone to get close to him either. He is afraid they will be hurt if they do. He is a fast healer and good fighter.

I really enjoyed this story as it has action, love, demons and the female character isn't one to stand by waiting for a man to protect her. Both Tegan and Gabe are wonderful characters that clearly belong together because they help each other in battles but emotionally as well. They are haunted by their own personal demons and have to let them go. Both of their past have a way of coming back I will say. I saw a few things happening but a few little twist I didn't see. The author does a great job getting you to know the characters and the world you are in. I will say a few characters are some you will hate. If you like paranormal books that are well written and entertaining pick this one up.

Justice by Rebecca Royce
Genre: New Adult Urban Fantasy/ Post-Apocalyptic
ISBN: C 978-1-61333-629-8
Book Length: ## 147 pages
Publisher: ## Decadent Publishing

DESCRIPTION
My name is Rachel Clancy, and if you’re reading this, chances are I am dead. I have returned to Genesis, my family and Chad. I think I might even be happy. But you know, happy endings aren’t for everyone least of all me.

Dr. Icahn is still out there, and if I have any hope of finishing this fight once and for all—I will need the help of those who want to kill me. Please don’t think me a hero or a martyr. I’m just a girl, who’s made a lot of mistakes, but I know what I have to do.

And know, whatever happens next, I didn’t do it for me. I did it for a future that I have to have faith will exist…even if I’m not there to see it.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Rachel Clancy.

If you’ve been reading these books, then you already know that. But I feel the need to introduce myself to you every time I start a new one, like you might have just found me, or you’re a stranger I don’t know. Manners dictate the introduction although I suspect I’ll never know your name in return, which is okay. Maybe it’s better I never do.

I haven’t held anything back from you. I’ve not tried to make myself look better or less selfish or more mature. No, I wrote down everything the way I remember it happening. Someone else might remember the events differently but this is how it happened for me, or at least how I see it when I think about the years between my sixteenth and eighteenth birthdays.

Eighteen would have made me a grown-up in the Before Time, in the days before Dr. Icahn’s experiments nearly ended the entire world. In the time after, sixteen became the year we achieved maturity. Still, for me, since I could remember what my life had been like before, eighteen meant something when I finally got there.

It indicated I had survived, somehow. When I blew out the candles, low-sung lyrics of “Happy Birthday” filling the room, and my mother and father cheering, I couldn’t help but disbelieve I’d actually made it to my birthday. Was this all a dream? Had I died on a field, eaten by a Werewolf, and these thoughts of my eighteenth birthday were imaginings of my dying mind?

Writing these tales, telling them to you, helps me to believe they happened.

But the sad truth is, if you are reading them, then most likely I am dead.

Seventeen Blog Tour - Review, Excerpt & Giveaway

Hi everyone! I have a stop on the Seventeen Blog Tour today. There is a review of the book, an excerpt and a giveaway.

SEVENTEEN

BLURB:
Most of the world's seventeen billion people are unconscious, perpetually serving their employers as part of massive brain trusts. The ecosystem has collapsed, and corporations control all of the world's resources and governments. A bedraggled alcoholic known as the Prophet predicts nineteen year-old waitress Eadie will lead a revolution, but how can she prevail when hunted by a giant corporation and the Federal Angels it directs?

My Review
This book is a different type of dystopian book. I really enjoyed reading about this possible future. There is a couple different groups. The Elite who pretty much run things, the people in the brain trust and people who are what you might say free. You would think the Elite ones would have it made but that is not the case. Each one has a person above them it seems and they can be reprogrammed at any time. The brain trust are really shells of people who are hooked up to machines keeping things going. The ones who are free have to watch their steps with those that are Elite, they steal, fight and some are on street drugs. Everyone seems unhappy and believe the saying the grass is greener on the other side. A change seems to be coming.

The author does a good job descibing the world you are in now. You really get a feel for what has happened and how things are run. This is book hops around some and at first I was confused but then I got the hang of it. There is several what you would call main characters to get to know. Eadie seems like a normal waitress. She tries to stay out of the way and live her life. When an old man is attacked she can't help but get involved. Some Elite's try to kill him and she ends up fighting for his life. The old man a prophet says she is a general. I liked how when everyone else turned their back she was willing to jump in. She isn't the only one to do so and a motley crew of characters seem to find their way into a group. That group seems to start the change the world needs. There isn't no love matches or such in this book. It is more an  action book. The ending left many things open and you want the next one as it seems even with all that happens in this book there is more to come.

Excerpt
“I know what you did, Sett. There is a Federal Angel with me right now. He wants to talk to you.  He would like to know why you helped some waitress escape after she killed Matt Ricker. Switch to visual. Now.”

He blinked hard and wiped a palm across his forehead. A sickly gray light seemed smeared along the opposite wall, having filtered through the filthy window at the end of the hallway. The floorboards creaked as he shifted his weight.

“Is it true, Sett?” his mother asked. “Why would you get yourself involved in a debacle like that? Why? When everything was going so well for you?”

He stared down at the stained plywood floor, now spotted with teardrops.

“What were you thinking? A waitress? You know better than to go getting messed up with people like that. They’ll drag you right down with them, every time. You come home right now and explain to this Angel exactly what happened; I’m sure he’ll understand. But I’m not going to lie to you. There will still be fallout. Society does not tolerate wretched, uncivilized behavior. I can’t guarantee you’ll be allowed to remain at Fisher.”

“I wasn’t thinking at all, Mother. I was just doing it, all of a sudden.” He sniffed. “She was hurt, and they started it, not her. Nobody else would help. What was I supposed to do? Just let her die?”

“Oh, Sett.” His mother sighed. “Of course you were.”

Sex in the Title - Promo & Excerpt

Hi everyone! I have a promo for Sex in the Title today. It sounds wonderful. There is an excerpt included in the post.

RELEASE DATE: October 21, 2013

SYNOPSIS:
New York City, May 2000. The Internet bubble has burst, and Evan's boss fires him with an email. The next day, his girlfriend dumps him, also via email. Afraid to check any more emails, Evan desperately seeks a rebound romance but the catastrophes that ensue go from bad to hilariously worse. Fortunately, Evan meets someone whose legendary disasters with females eclipse even his own.

To reverse their fortunes, they recruit their friends into a group of five guys who take on Manhattan in pursuit of dates, sex, and adventure. With musings about life, relationships, and human psychology, this quintessential New York story about the search for happiness follows five men on their comical paths to trouble, self-discovery, and love.

Excerpt
“So what’s the body count?”

“The body count?”

“You know: how many women have you slept with in your twenty-nine years?”

Evan wasn’t sure whether to overstate the number to look sexually impressive to a soft porn star, or whether to understate the number to look less promiscuous and more like the responsible, clean cut, solid-boyfriend type. Since he still hadn’t quite figured out what Tina was looking for or who she really was, he decided just to tell the truth.

“I’ve been with about sixty-seven women.”

“What do you mean ‘about sixty-seven?’ You say ‘about sixty’ or ‘about seventy.’ But not ‘about sixty-seven.’ You’re obviously keeping track.” Tina looked amused at another opportunity to toy with Evan.

“All right. You got me,” Evan conceded. “I’ve been with precisely sixty-seven women.”

“Unless, of course, you said ‘about’ because the total depends on how you define ‘being with a woman.’ For example, if you just got a blowjob and nothing else then maybe you don’t count that.”

“OK. To be more precise, I’ve had sexual intercourse with sixty-seven women.”

“All right, so then you’ve probably been with many more women than sixty-seven?”

“Yeah. But I don’t keep track of those.” Evan suddenly wondered why he didn’t bother to keep track of anything but consummation.

“I see…So when did you get started on these sixty-seven women?”

“You mean, how old was I when I lost my virginity?”

“Yes.”

“Twenty.”

“So you’ve slept with sixty-seven women in just nine years.”

“Well, actually I’ve had six serious relationships that together took up about two years.”

“Serious? Let’s see…Six serious relationships in two years…So each one lasted an average of four months. You call that serious?”

“Well, it was an intense four months. And I wasn’t seeing anyone else. You know, that’s kind of a big deal in New York,” he added ironically. “Dating someone exclusively for four months in New York is like four years in Anchorage.”

Tina chuckled at Evan’s joke. “All right, so not counting the serious relationships, you’ve slept with...” She crunched some numbers in her head. “You’ve slept with sixty-one women in just seven years…That’s an average of almost nine per year…A new woman every forty days.” Tina seemed impressed, which suddenly made Evan feel rather promiscuous.

AUTHOR BIO:
Zack Love graduated from Harvard College, where he tried to create a bachelor’s degree in Women. With the bachelor portion of that degree in hand, he settled in New York City but – to afford renting his bed-sized studio – found himself flirting mostly with a computer screen and stacks of documents. Determined not to die a corporate drone, Zack decided to sacrifice sleep for screenwriting, an active social life, and Internet startups offering temporary billion-dollar fantasies.

To feed his steady diet of NYC nightlife, he regularly crashed VIP parties in the early 2000s and twice bumped into his burgeoning crush, a Hollywood starlet. But – much to Zack’s surprise – neither of those awkward conversations led to marriage with the A-list actress. Zack eventually consoled himself by imagining fiascoes far worse than those involving his celebrity crush. In the process, he dreamed up a motley gang of five men inspired by some of his college friends and quirky work colleagues. And thus was born Sex in the Title. But the novel is not autobiographical: Zack never had his third leg attacked by any mammal (nor by any plant, for that matter). In fact, keeping his member safe has been one of Zack’s lifelong goals – and one of the few that he’s managed to accomplish.

Tango Love Release Day Blast - Review & Giveaway

Tango Love
By: Nicole Flockton

Blurb
A sexy short story about being in love with your best friend — and discovering it takes two to tango.

Melinda Jones has been in love with her housemate, James Brady, since he moved in...but she has no intention of ever telling him. Except it seems James has his own plans...and they include asking her to share a sexy tango — then a little dirty dancing in his bed.

For Melinda, it's the best night of her life...until she wakes up alone the next morning. Is she destined to spend her life dancing by herself, or will James step up to be the partner of her dreams?

My Review
This a short story but it is really good. Melinda and James are housemates. They are friends and have never crossed the line of friendship. Melinda realizes she is in love with him and fights to hide it. She doesn't want to risk losing him by making a move. Just when she has got tired of him using her to try his pickup lines out on and go home with a new guy James makes a move on her. Things really heat up as both of these two have built up want for each other. I love how they can't keep there hands off each other. You only get Melinda's POV but you see how far James is willing to go for her. You wonder at one point if it was just a one night thing. I like the interaction between the two and the sparks between them. If you enjoy sexy stories this is one for you.

Excerpt
“What’s a pretty girl like you sitting at a bar all by herself?”

That voice. So smooth, like warm chocolate sauce sliding down your throat. Such a shame it was the lamest pick-up line in history. That voice deserved something so much better.

Melinda Jones turned, a light shiver tingling down her spine as she locked eyes with a pair of deep blue ones.

“Please tell me you don’t use that line all the time.”

His laughter rumbled through her soul, and gooseflesh rippled down her arms. She was in serious trouble. The man should be locked up. No woman was safe from his voice or his laugh. No wonder he had such a good success rate with the opposite sex.

“Only for you, babe, would I use a line like that. I know I’m pretty safe from getting a swift hit in the ribs with your elbow.”

“It just gets better and better. I’m going to dance, excuse me.”

And with that, Melinda dumped her wine glass on the bar, slipped off the chair and headed for the dance floor to join her friends. It was stupid to feel so hurt but she did. James didn’t know she had feelings for him, so she really had no reason to be angry. To him, she was just his housemate; the girl he could joke around with and test his pick up lines on.

The fact that she’d fallen in love him was her problem. He was the perfect housemate. He cooked, cleaned, ironed and listened. He even watched chick flicks with her sometimes.

He was the perfect guy and to him, she was just Melinda; the girl whose house he shared. He’d never once batted an eyelid when she’d brought guys home. In the beginning, she hadn’t batted an eyelid when he’d done the same and bought girls home. The fact that she hadn’t gotten laid in over six months wasn’t his issue. It was totally hers.

The realisation she’d fallen for him had been one Friday night when they’d been sharing Chinese. He’d said something and she’d looked over at him and WHAM that was when it had hit her. She’d fallen for him.

Mooning over a guy who wasn’t into you was the least attractive trait in a woman. How many times had she’d told her friends that? Now it was time to take her own advice and get over her feelings for James.

Melinda danced with her friends. She laughed at their jokes and gave the impression she didn’t have a care in the world.

“I’m getting a drink!” She shouted to her friends over the incessant thump of bass. They nodded and continued to dance.

Melinda headed towards the bar, wishing she’d worn her favourite, comfortable Jimmy Choos, instead of the new ones she’d bought that day. The shoes may have had sex written all over them, but they were pinching her toes.

She sat down on a recently vacated bar stool and ordered a fresh glass of white wine. Waiting for the bartender to return with it she looked around the club. The crowd had built while she’d been dancing. The testosterone level had risen tenfold.

As she gazed around, her eyes stopped at a pair of broad shoulders. His t-shirt fit him like a second skin.

Now that was the type of distraction she was looking for. She wanted—no needed—a body that night. Anything to take her mind off the one body she couldn’t have. It didn’t really matter that he wasn’t the hottest guy on the earth. At that moment Mr Heavenly Shoulders turned in her direction and locked eyes with Melinda.

Yes the night was definitely looking up, she thought.

Melinda gave him her come-hither smile. The invitation she was sending his way was very clear. The wink he gave in return told Melinda he was interested in taking her up on her offer.

The bartender arrived at that moment with her fresh drink. She reached for it, bringing it slowly to her lips, all the while watching and waiting for Mr Heavenly Shoulders to make his way to her. He’d taken two steps when he stopped abruptly, the flirty look stripped from his face.

He shrugged the heavenly shoulders she’d been imagining wrapping her arms around as if to say, “Thanks but not tonight.” He turned back to his friends.

“What the…?” There was no possible way she’d misread that look in his eye.

“He was only after one thing, you know.”

Melinda whirled around and faced the owner of the voice. The last voice she’d expected to hear warning her off a man. “Of course I knew exactly what he wanted. I invited him. I wanted to have wild animal sex with him.”
