On paper, Viive McBroome lives the perfect life—a key player in a fast-paced, technical field, one promotion away from real success—but that’s only if you ignore one little problem.

Sandwiched between one migraine and the next, Viive’s life is like those choose-your-own-adventure books you read as a kid, only less fun and with a lot more drugs. And lately, as her bosses politely march her toward a vacation that might never end, even the good days seem like a struggle for survival.

Faced with frustration from her loved ones and the dark machinations of a new coworker, Viive feels herself getting pulled under by guilt, apologies, and workplace shenanigans. But then she meets the Migraine Mafia, a quirky, vibrant support group, and her fragile camouflage begins to crumble. She discovers that a room full of strangers just might be able to change the way she views her illness—and realizes that if she doesn’t learn to ask for help, her health isn’t the only thing she stands to lose.

Sometimes painful, frequently hilarious, never dull, The Migraine Mafia is the story of one woman’s life-altering decision to thrive in the face of chronic illness.

Just a Holiday Fling
Pine Lake Series Book One
By: Tiffany Marie

Blurb
She wants a fling. He wants forever.

Samantha isn’t feeling very festive as she heads back to her childhood hometown for Christmas—but being alone, homeless, and verging on jobless can do that to a woman. She has no interest in participating in the town Christmas celebrations and would rather just crawl into bed until the holidays are over. Determined to get back into the Christmas spirit, Sam plans on seducing her childhood best friend—and fantasy guy—Jack. A holiday fling will be just the thing to kick her Scrooge-like attitude.

Jack’s been in love with Samantha for years, but he didn’t make his move before someone else did. Now she’s finally single again, and Jack’s not going to waste any time. He has a little over a week to convince Samantha they belong together, and that moving back to their childhood town to be with him is the right thing to do. As he woos her with carriage rides and homemade desserts, he learns Sam has been offered a new job half-way across the country, and he fears he’s about to lose her all over again.

My Review
Samantha feels like her life is falling apart and she isn't in the mood for Christmas. She is going back home for Christmas after being dumped, losing her condo and maybe her job. She is going to have to decide where to go ext. It's hard to keep the bad mood when her dad is in a competition with the neighbor for best decorations or when her childhood best friend Jack gets her out of the house. She has had feelings for him for years and decides she wants a fling with him. Jack has been in love with Sam for years. Now that she is single he wants to make his move. He has to make her see she should stay with him. He only has a week to convince her it is more than a fling.

This is a wonderful short story. Sam is feeling depressed but the wonderful little town she is from makes her feel better. She doesn't want to be someone who does nothing with her life and is trying to decide what steps to take next. She has the hots for Jack but is afraid of another commitment. Jack is amazing. He likes to have fun, is the fun loving uncle and has an amazing family. He is also very sexy. I love when he and Sam are together and would love a shower with him lol. He does so many sweet things to try and get Sam to stay. Every time they try to make things work they end up butting heads. This is a charming town and the author makes it sound like a wonderful place you would love to visit. I love seeing their dads compete over decorations and other over cookies. This is an amazing story about love, hope, Christmas and so much more. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more stories about this town I hope.

Mack didn’t choose Strong—Strong chose him. Fresh from the warzones of the Middle East and battling PTSD demons, this Spec Ops soldier is most at home on the battlefield. All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy
By: Katie Lane, Emma Cane & Jennifer Ryan

Blurbs
What’s better than Christmas? Christmas and Cowboys. Contemporary romance stars Emma Cane, Jennifer Ryan, and Katie Lane join together for a holiday anthology to remember.

“The Christmas Cabin” by Emma Cane
Sandy, recently diagnosed with MS and abandoned by her husband, is determined to make Christmas special for her five-year-old Nate. While they’re trooping through the woods to cut down their Christmas tree, a snowstorm arises, and a mysterious old ranch hand points them toward an abandoned cabin. Little do they realize, the ranch hand also guides cowboy Doug Thalberg to the same place…

“Can’t Wait” by Jennifer Ryan
Before The Hunted series, Caleb and Summer had a whirlwind romance not to be forgotten...
Caleb Bowden has a lot to thank his best friend, Jack, for - saving his life in Iraq and giving him a job helping him run his family’s ranch. He also introduced him to the most incredible woman he’s ever met. Too bad he can’t ask her out. You do not date your best friend’s sister. Summer and Caleb share a closeness she’s never felt for anyone, but the stubborn man refuses to turn the flirtatious friendship into something meaningful. Frustrated and tired of wishing to be happy, Caleb tells Jack how he feels about Summer. With his friend’s help, he plans a surprise Christmas proposal she’ll never forget - because he can’t wait to make her his wife.

"Baby It's Cold Outside" by Katie Lane
Alana Hale is tired of irresponsible beach bums whose only plan for the future is catching the next “awesome” wave. So when she tries her luck with an internet dating service and ends up hitting the Responsible-Sensitive-Man jackpot, she wastes no time accepting Clint McCormick’s invitation to spend the holidays on his family’s ranch. But when an unexpected blizzard strands Alana, she’ll be forced to find refuge in the arms of a womanizing rodeo cowboy who knows how to take the chill off a cold winter night. Now Alana will have to make a choice between the man who heats her blood and the man who touches her heart. Or will she? Mistaken identity will give Alana the man of her dreams and a very “Marry” Christmas.

My Review
The Christmas Cabin by Emma Cane
Sandy just wants to make Christmas perfect for her son Nate. Last year his father left them and Christmas wasn't to good. They go out to look for the perfect Christmas tree. Once they find it they realize they are lost in a snow.storm. A stranger points her in the direction of a cabin. Once they make it there she starts a fire hoping to get survive the storm. Another stranger tumbles in half frozen and she learns he owns the cabin. They are snowed in and as  Christmas comes closer Sandy tries to make the best of it. Doug hasn't been feeling the holiday spirit but Sandy gets him in the mood. He soon realizes she has showed him so much more than what Christmas is about.

I really liked this story. Sandy is so strong and sweet. She may have an illness but she doesn't let it get her down. She and Doug have something special growing between them and you get to see it bloom. They share a simple few days snowed in but it shows them what they truly need. Nate is such a sweet boy you love him right away. I love how this book brought back simpler times. You don't need fancy things to have a wonderful Christmas and you never know when you will find love.

Can't Wait by Jennifer Ryan
Summer has been in love with her brother's best friend for a while. She just can't get him to see how she isn't just his best friends little sister. Caleb wants Summer but would never cross the line and anger his best friend. He would rather leave than take a chance on being with Summer. It's hard to fight wanting her when she lets it known over and over she is crazy for him. Will he ever let Summer get close and show her he loves her as well.

Summer is a character you will love. She knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get him. She still plays it cool around her brother as she doesn't want to cause problems. She wants to help Caleb get over the ghost of his past and show him she would be the perfect wife.  Caleb is a gentleman and it really shows. He is so afraid to let his love show. He works hard and once he makes his mind up you see how romantic he is. I love how he teases Summer. This is an adorable story about two great people who try to do the right thing even if it will keep them apart. I love the ending and think it is perfect for this book.

Baby It's Cold Outside by Katie Lane
Alana goes online looking for the perfect man. She thinks she has found him in Clint. She decides to surprise him by going to meet him for Christmas. Along the way she gets stuck then snowed in with a hot cowboy. While she can't keep her hands off him she soon finds he is Clint' s brother. The brother who likes to play the field. She knows she has to end things with Clint and say goodbye to the cowboy who heats her up.Not everything is as she thinks and she will soon see she may have a great Christmas after all.

This is a great story as you get sizzle, laughs and more. I kinda figured out what was going on but I have to say I loved Clint' s reaction near the end. Alana is awesome and can throw a mean snowball lol. I have to say one brother does seem like a jerk but I really liked Clint. They are a perfect match and you just wait for them to work things out.

Overall
I will say this book is wonderful as it has three fantastic stories each one gives you a great Christmas feeling. You get love, heart warming, laughs sizzle and hot cowboys. How much more could you ask for. I know I wouldn't mind being snowed in with any of these cowboys. I look forward to getting more books by all three authors as they are all great writers and you want more of there books. Looking for a fantastic Christmas book here it is.

The Strong, Silent Type Book Blast - Giveaway & Excerpt

Hi everyone! I have a stop on The Strong, Silent Type book blast today. There is a giveaway and an excerpt for you all.

The Strong, Silent Type
by Lynn Kellan

BLURB:
If he breaks his silence about the scars marring his face, will the truth drive her away?

Tina Hudson's busy sales job is a welcome distraction from her empty house and memories of the husband she lost to cancer, but she's tired of running from her loneliness. Tina suspects her brawny neighbor has been leaving single red roses in her mailbox, but he's the strong, silent type-the kind that should come with a warning label.

Wade Scott felt dead inside over the loss of his son and the disintegration of his marriage. When Tina moves next door, Wade comes alive again. Problem is, she's a beautiful sales whiz and he's an ordinary plumber with a wicked scar along his temple. The truth of his past might drive her away. With little hope of attracting her attention, he showers her with anonymous acts of kindness.

When Tina realizes Wade is the guardian angel who's been watching over her for the past six months, she invites him to dinner. New Year's Eve is approaching, a perfect time to start over...but Wade's stoic silence drives a wedge in their burgeoning relationship. Should she take a new job that will put her on the run again, or take a chance the strong, silent type might fill her heart-and her home-with love?

Excerpt
His fingers tightened around hers. “You told Austin you wanted to open yourself up to new possibilities. Is that why you invited me for dinner? To see what might happen with a man like me?”

“Yes. I wanted to be with the man who’s been watching out for me for the past six months.” She looked at their intertwined hands. His broad palm reminded her of how easily he ripped open the box Austin couldn’t conquer a few hours earlier. Wade was definitely the strong, silent type, but he was proving he could break his silence given the right conditions.

“This is a dangerous experiment.” The pad of his thumb brushed a gentle caress across her knuckles. “Sparks are gonna fly.”

“I’m hoping they will.” She offered a shy grin, a bit surprised by the intent way he stared. The blunt interest in his gaze sent currents of electricity along her nerve endings. “A long time has passed since I’ve felt any sparks.”

He let go of her and stood. Walking to her chair, he leaned down until his breath trickled across her hair. “When your sister saw me last night, I could tell she didn’t think I belonged here.”

Her insides flinched, struck at how he’d picked up on Leslie’s misgivings.

“My sister has no idea you’ve been cutting my grass and plowing my driveway without asking for anything in return.” Tina rose and turned toward him. “Give her a chance to know you.” Taking advantage of his stillness, she touched the crinkled flesh along his temple.

Sweetest Mistake
Sweet Texas Series #2
By: Candis Terry
Releasing December 31st, 2013

Blurb
When friends become lovers . . .

Firefighter and former Marine Jackson Wilder has tough guy down to an art, but he’s learned the hard way that promises were made to be broken. Abigail Morgan was once his best friend, his first kiss, his first love, his first everything. He’d just forgotten to mention all that to her and she blew out of his life. Five years later, she’s back and he’s battling a load of mistrust for her disappearing act. But for some reason he just can’t keep his lips—or his hands—to himself.

It can lead to disaster or . . .

When her stint as a trophy wife abruptly ends, Abby returns home to Sweet, Texas, and comes face-to-face with Jackson—her biggest and sexiest mistake. Time and distance did nothing to squash her love for the act-first-think-later stubborn hunk of a man, and when he suggests they renew their old just-friends vow, Abby realizes she wants more. She’d cut and run once. Could she do it again? Or could she tempt him enough to break his promise?

My Review
Abby has come home to Sweet to fix her parents house and sale it. She left years ago married a rich man and hasn't been back. She has never forgot Jackson her best friend and the guy she always loved. Now divorced she would love to see if they could be more than friends. Jackson has never forgot Abby or the fact that she left him and Sweet years ago. He is afraid to get to close in case she walks away again. He has enough nightmares without added more to the mix. They both are hard headed and it will take a lot to get them to see they belong together.

Jackson in the sexy fireman that if you had a fire you would want there. He is hard headed and stubborn but he is also so sweet and caring. Seeing him with his daughter will melt your heart. Abby is afraid of what people think of her but she shouldn't worry. She is beautiful, caring and so good around people. She has a heart of gold. I love both these characters.

I am so glad I got to go back to Sweet, Texas. I fell in love with this place and characters in the first book. Jackson comes from a family that has suffered loss but they all care so much for each other. His family considers Abby one of the family and you see how close they all are. I have to say I adore all of them. This book is a wonderful one about two great people who need to stop worrying and get together. You want to lock them in a room till they work things out.I love Jackson's ex as well. She is a great woman. I will say I was worried a few times that Abby and Jackson wouldn't work things out. This is amazing love story anyone will enjoy. I already am impatiently waiting the next book.

Excerpt
For two days Jackson had put out fires, hit the books, and watchedDespicable Me with Izzy for the millionth time. He’d washed the horses, bucked the hay, and chased wayward cattle back to the herd. He’d done anything he could to stay away from Abby and escape the big damn lie he’d told her.
What the hell had he been thinking when he’d pulled her into his arms and kissed her?
He’d done his damndest to get over her. To stay pissed off at her for cutting him out of her life.
But then she’d touched him.
Kissed his cheek.
And he lost his mind.
When his brain cells had started to reassemble in his head, he’d panicked and allowed the first scrambled thought to leap from his mouth.
He’d blamed her.
Ha!
As a matter of pure survival he’d kept his tires off Bluebonnet Lane and his mind off big blue eyes and soft lips. His attempts to stay busy, however, did not include avoiding the amorous attention of his mother’s pet goat, Miss Giddy, when he rode into the barn.
With daylight waning, he took the headstall off Ranger--the most stubborn horse on the planet—while Miss Giddy bleated her discontent and butted his leg with her horns. He glanced down into the beady eyes glaring up at him.
“Seriously, goat?”
Miss Giddy—currently decked out with a red satin bow around her brown neck—bleated, “Meh-eh-eh.”
Which he took to mean “Seriously.”
When she pawed at the ground he gave in, reached down, and gave her a brisk rub between her horns. “What is it with you females always wanting attention?”
“We wouldn’t have to ask for it if you men were more observant.”
Loosening the cinch on the big bay gelding, Jackson dropped his chin and laughed. “Sorry, Mom. Didn’t know you were standing there.”
“Actually I was on my way up to the loft.” She lifted to her toes and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. Her big blond hair had been fluffed and sprayed into place. She looked like she was ready to go out on the town. “Just got a call from Charli. She and Reno are about a half hour out. I made some quick calls to gather folks up to welcome them home proper. Everybody should be here soon.”
As she talked she stroked the top of the goat’s head. “I found something in the loft the other day I wanted to give them as a homecoming present.”
“Not a wedding present?”
“Not as far as I know. Course your brother’s been nothing but surprises lately so it’s hard to tell.” She reached forward and tied up the saddle strings into a scaffold knot. “You don’t look like you’ve slept much lately.”
“Nothing gets past you, does it?”
“Sugarplum, I’ve been the mother of five boys for most of my life. Each one of you was wilier than the next. I had to be one step ahead or you’d all take control of the universe.” She gave Ranger a pat on the rump. “So what’s on your mind?”
For two days he’d kept himself busy. But for two nights all he’d been able to think about was having Abby in his arms. Then he had to open his big mouth and lie his ass off so she wouldn’t see how much it affected him. He’d be damned if he’d give his mother any ammunition against him. He shrugged. “Just been studying all the material Captain Steele gave me.”
“I’m proud of you, son. I’ve always believed you could do anything you put your heart into.”
“I haven’t done anything yet. Haven’t made any solid decisions.” He lifted the saddle and pad from Ranger’s back and set them on the stand near the stall. “Just considering the possibilities right now.”
“You do that.” She patted his back. “You take your sweet time. Just like you did with Abby. We’ll see how that works out.”
He turned and jammed his hands on his hips. “What the hell brought herinto this conversation?”
“You did.”
“I never even mentioned her name.”
“Didn’t have to.” His mother gave him that grin that said she wasn’t just two steps ahead of him, she was a whole damn mile. “But you’d better get used to the sound of it because here she comes right now.”
“What?” His head whipped around at the sound of tires on gravel. Sure enough, Abby’s slick silver Mercedes cruised past the open barn doors. He looked back at his mom who stood with arms folded and a smirk on her lips.
“If I left it up to you boys, y’all wouldn’t find the loves of your lives till I was dead and gone. And I want some more grandchildren before I take a dirt nap.”
“Are you crazy? That’s never going to happen with—” A car door closed and he bit off an expletive.
“Abby!” his mother called. “In here, sugarplum.”
“You . . .” He pointed. “Are nothing but trouble.”
To his disappointment his mother grinned.
“I’ve been called worse.” She pointed back. “You mind the manners I raised you with.”
The sound of unsteady footsteps over gravel came closer. Jackson blinked. When he opened his eyes again Abby stood there dressed in a soft white sweater, black skinny jeans, and red high heels. The outfit did nothing to deter the sudden hot flush that climbed his body and made him ache in specific areas.
Judging by the scowl on her face he’d have to say she hadn’t expected to see him either and that since the other night she was not residing in Happy Camperville.
