These are just a few of the days humans prophesied as bringing catastrophic events that would end the world. We predicted nuclear warfare. Drastic climate change. A call from God.

We were wrong.

Cue the gargoyle invasion—laboratory bred mutants designed to slaughter humans. When the government goes AWOL and gargoyles are swarming by the hundreds, it's up to the citizens of the United States to regroup and save themselves.

Meet Cliff Matthews, a teenage boy separated from his entire family with the exception of his younger sister, whom he is desperate to keep alive. Along the quest to save their lives, he encounters people who aren't all that they seem. Everyday's a battle, but if he can't trust his own species, where does that leave his family?

And we can't forget the man who may be willing to sacrifice Cliff's life, if it means world domination.

In terms of doomsday, no one could've seen this coming. The dawn of the apocalypse…

My Review
At first there was just a few small attacks. No one knew what it was at the time. Then the truth came and the horror began. Gargoyles have come out and are wiping out every person they can. No where is safe and for one boy the struggle not only to live but to keep his sister safe has only began. Cliff only knows for sure his little sister is alive because she is with him. As they are are the run looking for safety they join up with others looking for the same thing. The gargoyles aren't the only thing to fear as the madness of some humans rears it head and they have to try and survive that along with gargoyle attacks.

Cliff from the start is someone you see being a leader. He takes care of his two sisters and does what he can to protect them. When he gets separate with only the one sister he does worry about the other. He can only hope his brother is keeping her safe. You see just how much he loves his sister as she is his thought every time something happens. He knows for sure he wants to keep her safe. What you get to see the more you read is a boy who also takes chances and at times has little regard for his own life. He has some secrets of his own and a past he would love to change. I loved him he isn't perfect but he doesn't give up and will fight till the end.

Why is this book so awesome? One reason is it has gargoyles in it and I love to read about them. These are evil mutant suckers who just want to kill. Two if you love post-apocalyptic books this one is sure to please as it is different than others and really stands out. Three is all the great characters. They are all amazing and you just want more after you read this book. I could go on naming reasons but those are the main ones. I got hooked as soon as I started reading this book and like Cliff from the start. I really felt like I got in his head and saw where he was coming from and what was happening. Hunter is an amazing character as well even if sometimes she got on my nerves and one time I wanted to scream at her. The concept is a great one. The author does a great job in creating this book. The only downside I can say is it was over and I wasn't ready for it to end. I want to know what next, what happened to the rest of Cliff's family and I just want more of this Fantastic story. I recommend to everyone looking for something different to read.
