The Governess Club
CLAIRE & BONNIE
By: Ellie MacDonald
Avon Romance
Releasing Sept 3rd & Sept 17th, 2013

Blurb
Four regency misses, making their ways as governesses, make a pact work together in order to leave London and support themselves in the country. Thus, the Governess Club was born. But little did they know that their heroes might have something else to say about the matter.

Claire
Claire Bannister just wants to be a good governess so that she, and the other ladies of the Governess Club, can make enough money to leave their jobs and start their own school in the country. But when the new, sinfully handsome, and utterly distracting tutor arrives, Claire finds herself caught up in a whirlwind romance that could change the course of her future.

Jacob Knightly has a secret. He’s actually the notorious Earl of Rimmel. He’s just posing as a tutor to escape his reputation in the city. He never expected to fall in love with the beautiful and kind governess. She is the first person to love him for himself and not his title.

But when Jacob’s true identity is revealed, Claire realizes she has risked her reputation and her heart on a man she doesn’t truly know. Will Jacob be able to convince her that the Wild Earl has been tamed and that she is the true Countess of his heart?

My Review
Claire and the other ladies of the Governess Club are working to save money to open a school they can call their own. She does like her job but doesn't like that she is treated like she is beneath others. She is working hard to take of the children she does care about to save money. She isn't interested in finding a husband as she doesn't want to belong to anyone. Jacob comes to the house as the kids new tutor. What the family doesn't know is he is really the Earl of Rimmel. He wanted to get away from his reputation for a while. He wasn't expecting to fall in love with Claire. Her beauty and willingness to look for the good in everyone touched his heart. Will she stay once she learns who he is or will she go on to live her dream.

Claire is a smart woman who has several dreams for her future. One minute she is asked to be an extra at a party for the family and next she is sent away like a servant. She gets tired if living like that. She has some great friends that stand by her side. She is beautiful and sexy as she finds out as Jacob awakens her desires. Jacob is known for being a wild earl. He never cared before about anything. Under his role as a tutor he sees he can be so much more if he wanted to be. He is smart and while at times not very patient he learns to be good around the kids. He is also a very sexy man who is used to getting women.

I really enjoyed this book and at first getting the background on the club. I like the idea of during that time period these woman having the dream and desire to do what they want. The author does a great job in the place setting of the book. Claire and Jacob are opposites but really seem to work together. They begin to know each other and begin to have feelings for each other. Claire looks for the good in people and brings out the best in Jacob. She really helps him grow as a person. I love reading about these two characters and they have a wonderful story for everyone to enjoy. I really think anyone who like a historical romance will enjoy this one.

Bonnie
Miss Bonnie Hodges, governess to the Darrow family, is desperately trying to hold it together. Tragedy has struck and she is the sole person left to be strong for the two little boys in her care. When the new guardian arrives, she hopes that things will get better. She wasn’t expecting her new employer to be the most frustrating, overbearing, and ... handsome man she’s ever seen.

Sir Stephen Montgomery is utterly distracted. He should be trying to figure out how his two best friends were killed in a suspicious accident and why the new young viscount seems destined to be the next victim. But he can’t concentrate on anything but his growing feelings for the beautiful, mysterious, and utterly captivating governess.

Together they put their heads together to save the two young boys but will Stephen’s feelings for Bonnie get in the way of their search for a killer?

My Review
Bonnie is a member of the governess club and while she is ready to join the girls she has a responsibility first. The two little boys she cars for have had a horrible tragedy happen and now are orphans. Until their new guardian arrives she will not leave these boys. When Sir Stephen appears he is surprised to learn that not only is his two best friends are dead he is now the guardian of these two boys. While he tries to solve the mystery of his friends murder he also gets to know the two boys and their protective governess Bonnie. Bonnie truly loves these kids and will do whatever to protect them. She doesn't expect to fall for Stephen and knows it can go no where as she is a nobody and he is an important man. They have to work together to find a killer and keep the boys safe. Each day grows harder for them to fight their feelings for each other and danger seems to be lurking every where.

Bonnie is a wonderful woman who really loves these kids who are not even hers. She doesn't leave them like others did and will not leave them until she knows they are cared for. She is a beautiful caring woman and strong as you will see. She tries her best to let nothing  get her down. She is scared of her feelings for Stephen as she never expected to find someone who could care for her. She has a family secret she really doesn't want anyone to know. Stephen at first seems kind of gruff and standoffish but you see it  just because he is trying to figure out if it was an accident or murder. He is a strong, smart man who doesn't consider that he is better than anyone else. He grows to care for the kids and Bonnie as well as he learns to trust her and he begins to fall for her.

This book adds an element of danger to the series. You get Bonnie's story and you might think she is the quiet one but you see she is really very strong. I love Bonnie and Stephen's story they work well together in all areas. I had guess part of this mystery but it still had a few surprises in store for me. These two boys are the type you want to take home and cuddle with. Again the author does a great job giving another member of the governess club her story. This is different than the first one so it fely fresh and new. Historical romance fans here is a series for you to try.
