My Review
Brinley is a good girl who studies hard and doesn't party. She wants to get good grades and get away from her drunken mother. She is doing good until she runs into the boy she gave her first kiss to in high school shows up. She was embarrassed by him and just wanted to not see him again. He didn't want her years ago but now he seems like he is into her. She knows she shouldn't fall for him but the more time they spend together the more she seems to forget what he did years ago. Ryder doesn't believe or want love. It didn't work for his parents. He never forgot Brinley. She is the girl he compares others to. When it seems he isn't the only one interested in Brinley he has to face facts and show her how he feels. Brinley wants to believe him but when some rumors come to light she wonders if she has just been used as another joke. Ryder will have to do everything he can to show her is for real and she can trust him but it may be to late.
Ryder is the good looking guy everyone either wants or wants to be. He has never lacked for women but Brinley is different than the others. Ryder doesn't believe in tearing his family apart no matter what he does know. He is a good guy who has a bad rep. He truly puts his heart out there for Brinley. He will do anything to protect her. Brinley has had a hard life. She never felt loved by her mom and only really had her grandmother. She is very smart and works hard at her goals. She is sexy in a girl next door kinda way and she doesn't see it. I liked both of them even when both where being incredibly stubborn.
This was a book I couldn't put down. I read it in one sitting as I had to see what would happen next. It seems every time Brinley has things going good something comes along and tears her down. She is a good person who doesn't deserve what life has thrown at her. I thought at first she and Ryder would be a strange pair but they actually are good together. Ryder has a lot going on as well and thinks he has to keep everything to his self in order to protect others. The more I learned about him the more I liked him. I have to say I don't know how Brinley handled waiting for him at times and vice versa. They clearly belong together and they lit up the pages with their heat. It is also a great story about never believing everything you hear. I have to say I hated to see this one end and I wanted more of them just because I enjoyed them both so much. Would definitely reread this book many times.
