His Secret Superheroine : Review

His Secret Superheroine (St. Louis Superheroes #1)
by Patricia Eimer

Blurb
All kindergarten teacher Peyton Pearson wants is a nice, quiet life. Unfortunately, quiet isn't something she's had a lot of after tainted medicine turns her into a superhero. She's single, and saving the city from criminals—which is increasingly dangerous as the anti-superhero movement in St. Louis gains traction. Then there's her hot next door neighbor who makes her think super-dirty thoughts, and has no idea who she really is.

Police officer Dylan Wilson is trying to make the world safe by working to unmask all superheroes. When his sexy neighbor, Peyton, is evicted, Dylan offers her his spare room, unknowingly opening his home—and his heart—to the city's most reluctant superhero.

Can love survive when the masks come off?

My Review
Peyton never wanted to be a superhero. She just wanted a normal life as a teacher. thanks to a jerk ex husband her life is not what she thought it would be. She is hiding who she is from the world and especially her hot next door neighbor. Dylan likes Peyton and when she becomes homeless he offers her a place to stay. His daughter loves her and he likes her. What he doesn't know is she is one of the superheroes he wants to unmask. He is a member of the anti superheroes who want them all unmasked. As they begin to fall for each other danger rises up and Peyton as to reveal who she really is. Will love be enough to keep them together or will her being a superhero tear them apart.

Peyton is very sweet. She is a great teacher and loves kids. She also has a few self confidence issues and doesn't see her self as beautiful. I liked that as it made her seem normal. Dylan is a great dad and great cop. He does have faults like thinking all super heroes are bad or will become bad. He lumps them all together. At times he can seem awful but he does have his reasons. Both have problems with their exes.

I really enjoyed reading this. Peyton didn't want super powers and she hates having them at times. She has an ex that everyone thinks is great but she knows different. She constantly worries she may hurt someone with her powers not meaning to. I liked her a lot. Dylan I liked as well even if at times I wanted to smack him for being dumb. There is all kinds of action in tis book as it has heroes and villains. There is the love between Dylan and Peyton but they have so many things between them you wonder if it will ever work for them. Peyton shows many times how great a person she is in this book. I look forward to reading more in this series. If you want a great book about some super people try this one!

The Duke of Snow and Apples : Review

The Duke of Snow and Apples
by Elizabeth Vail

Blurb
Frederick Snow, first footman, is the perfect servant: efficient, hardworking, and completely bereft of emotion. Unbeknownst to his employers, he’s the lost Duke of Snowmont, on the run from a suspicious stepfather and a powerful magic he can only control by burying his passions beneath his frosty demeanor. He's managed to hide behind his carefully ordered life until an impertinent miss arrives and challenges everything he thought he wanted.

If Charlotte Erlwood wants to land a wealthy, titled husband at her great aunt’s house party, she has to stop losing her temper – especially with inordinately handsome footmen. Perhaps if she recruits Frederick for her matrimonial schemes, she'll be able to direct her attention toward suitable single noblemen and away from inappropriate dalliances. But Frederick’s frigid control is no match for Charlotte’s irrepressible spirit, and her passionate kiss could summon the darker side of his magic...or wake his heart from its frozen sleep.

My Review
Frederick has been hiding as a servant for many years. He is actually a Duke but he must hide from those that would see him harm and use his powers. He has a powerful magic but does not use it as it could take a life. He just wants to live his life and do his job but when he meets Charlotte that all changes. She is there to find a husband and at first treats Freddie as she calls him awful. She then decides to use him to help her land a rich husband. They two gradually begin to care for each other. A person from Frederick's past shows and they both will have to use their powers to keep Frederick's powers from killing someone.

This was an enjoyable story that I liked. I didn't love it as I could not connect to the characters. I liked Frederick more than I did Charlotte. He just wants to keep his power under control and not hurt anyone. Charlotte at the beginning is to me rude, snobby and seems to have many sides. She is selfish at times but then wen around some people she throws on the charm to try and get what she wants. She does have a change in her actions later in the book. I just never did grow to love her. It seems all in this book have some kind of power and I liked the magical part of the book. there also wasn't any instant love and fall right into bed and that was great as well. If you like fairy tale retellings you may enjoy this one.

The Jewel : Review

The Jewel (The Lone City #1)
by Amy Ewing

Blurb
The Jewel means wealth. The Jewel means beauty. The Jewel means royalty. But for girls like Violet, the Jewel means servitude. Not just any kind of servitude. Violet, born and raised in the Marsh, has been trained as a surrogate for the royalty—because in the Jewel the only thing more important than opulence is offspring.

Purchased at the surrogacy auction by the Duchess of the Lake and greeted with a slap to the face, Violet (now known only as #197) quickly learns of the brutal truths that lie beneath the Jewel’s glittering facade: the cruelty, backstabbing, and hidden violence that have become the royal way of life.

Violet must accept the ugly realities of her existence... and try to stay alive. But then a forbidden romance erupts between Violet and a handsome gentleman hired as a companion to the Duchess’s petulant niece. Though his presence makes life in the Jewel a bit brighter, the consequences of their illicit relationship will cost them both more than they bargained for.

My Review
Violet never wanted to become a surrogate. She would rather have stayed in the Marsh with her family. Since she has a gift she was taken away and raised in a school until it was time for her to be sent to the auction to be purchased by a royal and made to carry their child. She is purchased by the Duchess of the Lake and while she is given a lot of stuff she never had before living in the Jewel is not what she wants. From the beginning she is slapped to show her what could happen of she thinks of disobeying and told she is to be called by her auction number 197. She is told they have big plans for her and she must not fail. Her life is to carry a child for the Duchess and that is all. She has to work on growing her powers and stay in line. That becomes hard to do when she meets Ash and falls for him. It is forbidden and they both could die if they are caught. The Jewel is a dangerous place where the surrogates have to follow orders. Everyone wants to have the next greatest child and Violet has to be careful. While everyone thinks they want into the Jewel Violet just wants out with Her life and Ash.

Violet is a special girl who is smart but at the same time she can be very stupid. She rushes into things and should use her head to think them through first. She has a powerful magic and it is only growing stronger. She is beautiful even if she doesn't know it at first. You have to read to see why. She does care about her friends and tries to help them when she can. She tries her best to help her best friend survive. Ash I have to say I didn't care for at all. He is handsome yes but he is also selfish. He knows more than Violet what could happen if they are together but he goes ahead and falls for her. He is charming but he can also be a jerk. Or at least he seemed so to me.

First off I love this cover. It is very fitting to the book and just beautiful. Ok I like Violet I didn't love her but did like her. She never asked for this life and just wanted a normal one. The Jewel is what all hope to live in some day. these girls don't realize how dangerous a place it is. They are only to be used as a brood mare and that is it. they have no life and everything is told to them on how to speak, act and really they are just told everything to do. The other royals aren't above murder to get what they want and if a surrogate gets killed oh well it seems. There are some who try to help the girls but they have to be careful. I liked the plot a lot in this book. I didn't care for the Violet/Ash relationship. I would have liked to know more about how all the powers/sectors and such where started and set up but hopefully there will maybe be a prequel or more explained in the next book. This book has lots of danger and is fascinating to read. The ending did shock me as it has a twist I didn't see coming. I look forward to the next book to see what happens next.

Dylan’s Redemption
The McBrides Book Three
By: Jennifer Ryan
Releasing August 12th, 2014
Avon Romance

Blurb
There's a new sheriff in Fallbrook … Meet Dylan McBride.

Jessie Thompson had one hell of a week. Dylan McBride, the boy she loved, skipped town without a word. Then her drunk of a father tried to kill her, and she fled Fallbrook, vowing never to return. Eight years later, her father is dead, and Jessie reluctantly goes home—only to come face-to-face with the man who shattered her heart. A man who, for nearly a decade, believed she was dead.

Dylan accepted the position as sheriff of Fallbrook looking for a fresh start and a chance to uncover the truth about Jessie's disappearance. He knew he'd have to face a few ghosts … he just never thought one would be Jessie, all grown up, stunning … and alive. The pull between them is instant, but Dylan's heart has already mourned Jessie, and she has secrets she can never share. Can they escape the darkness of their past for a chance at a bright future together?

My Review
Jessie has overcome a lot over the years. She survived a father who tried to kill her and the boy who left with her heart. She left at fifteen only to come back home when she hears her father has died. She means to put him to rest and keep going on in her life. Problems arrive when she comes face to face with the boy who broke her heart. Dylan never thought to see Jessie again. After all everyone thought she was dead. He loved her years ago but had already made plans for his future and he was scared of what he felt for her. He became sheriff to help others like her hoping to make up for not being able to help her. There is a lot that is between them secrets, distrust and broken hearts but neither has ever stopped loving the other and Dylan hopes he can make her see he will never leave her again and he wants forever with her.

Dylan is the type of guy you hope you end up with. He is a great dad, takes care f people who need it and romantic. He loves Jessie and you can see clearly he is hurting for all she has gone through. He will do anything to help her overcome their past and get her to marry him. I don't know where to even start with Jessie. To say she has had it rough is putting it mildly. She has overcome almost dying, being out on her own at a young age, heartache and so much more. She has become a huge success and is proud of the work she does. She works hard, is smart and doesn't want anyone to look down on her. I love her so much. She has been down a road that would kill most. She never has dated since Dylan and never stopped caring about him.

I have enjoyed all the books I have read in this series so far but I have to say this one has been my favorite. Jessie alone makes this book such a wonderful read. You get sucked into her life what it was and what she has been through and you just want to go on a rampage and take out those that hurt her. She had two people who helped her and they are her true family. I felt so bad for her and Dylan after the secrets started coming out. I applaud Dylan for what he does and the stand he takes. He tries everything he can to make things up even when he is hurting as well. I will say his parents I hated. I have never seen such petty, snotty people who need their butts kicked so bad before. There is romance and love in this book as well no worries it isn't all series but I can't promise you won't shed a few tears some of joy some of sorrow. I would tell anyone to read this book and the rest of the series.

Bring On the Heat
The Boys of Summer # 1
By: Katie Rose
Releasing August 26th, 2014
Loveswept

Blurb
In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

My Review
Darcy is not a rich lady but she does house sit for one. When she gets the chance to attend a fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics she takes it. She is a huge baseball fan and the only trouble she has is she has to use her bosses invitation and clothes to go. After a make over she ends up resembling her a lot. Chase is a pitcher for the team and knows he has to do his part to help out. He is surprised when he meets party girl Lydia Logan and she seems different than what he would expect. Darcy tries to tell Chase she isn't Lydia but he doesn't listen. the two begin to spend time together and begin to fall in love. The problem is he still thinks she is Lydia and Darcy knows her time as to run out before long. She doesn't know when her boss will be back and the more she plays at being Lydia the harder it is to tell Chase the truth. Will the truth tear them apart forever or will Chase give the real person Darcy is a chance?

Darcy is a very sweet girl who is not rich or the woman she is playing to be. She loves helping others and she cares a lot for Chase. She hates having to lie to him. Chase has bug dreams.he wants to make it on the Yankees team. He is a hard worker and doesn't give up even when it hurts him. He likes more down to earth things and people. Both are great characters.

This was a very entertaining read and Darcy is not used to the high life so to say. She is is now playing at being rich. She always thought they did nothing but the more she gets into Lydia's life the more she sees she does a lot to keep up appearances. I have to say i liked her better when she let the real Darcy out. Chase likes the real Darcy much better as well even if he doesn't know it's her. He is being told by others he needs to move on to the Yankees get a fancy life when he really wants a woman he can enjoy in his life. I like how he enjoys the small things. He feels confused by Darcy as she seems to run hot and cold. i like the chemistry between them and they do some nice things together to help others. If you like a great couple with lots of heat give this one a try.

Sinful Rewards 2
A Billionaires and Bikers Novella
By: Cynthia Sax
Releasing August 12th

Blurb
Belinda “Bee” Carter isn’t quite sure what she’s gotten herself into. She’s been receiving mysterious messages from a secret admirer who is sending her more and more erotic dares. Each time she fulfills his desires, she gets rewarded. She’s convinced that her mystery texter is one of two super-hot men—Nicolas, the handsome billionaire, or Hawke, the sexy biker—but she can’t tell which one it is. And she’s coming to realize that beneath her peaches-and-cream exterior beats a heart that longs to play out all of her most secret fantasies.

As the stakes are raised again, will Bee succumb to the sensual allure of this latest dare?

My Review
Bee is getting rewards for being naughty for her secret admirer. She is sure it is one of two men she desires. It could be Nicolas the billionaire or Hawke the sexy biker. She is attracted to both and secretly dreams of both. In her dreams and her little acts she is letting her sexy side out and she can't wait to see what her next reward will be.

Bee seems like the quiet hard working woman you may not pay attention to. She isn't flashy and just wants to land the perfect job. Se has managed to get the eye of billionaire Nicolas and is not shy with him. She even tells him when he is being a jerk and needs to take lessons on how to talk to people. Hawke she has seen all of and he is no shy man. She likes how dangerous he seems but she learns he has a great heart as well. She is still trying to figure out who is sending her gifts and which of the two men she really wants. She has some amazingly hot dreams about both. This is a short story and only leaves you wanting more of the story. I want to see for sure who it is and while I think it's Nicolas I still would rather see her with Hawke. He may not be rich but I like him. Maybe Nicolas will grow on me in the next addition. If you like a hot little mystery you may enjoy this series!

“You like my bike, huh?” Hawke grins, one corner of his lips quirking endearingly higher than the other. The stubble shadowing his square chin accentuates his broad cheekbones, the darkness contrasting vividly with his pale eyes.

“Yep.” I don’t like what his bike symbolizes, his chosen means of transport is built for one person, but I admire the workmanship. “It’s very pretty.”

“Pretty?” He scowls, appearing deeply offended, lines grooved around his mouth. “Paintings are pretty. You’re pretty.”

He thinks I’m pretty. My soul fills with happiness.

“Bikes aren’t pretty, sweetheart. They’re powerful machines.” Hawke clutches the throttle and revs the engine, the sound vibrating through my chest. “One thousand CCs, like having a beast between your legs.”

He’s a beast, all leather and denim and muscle, and I’d like to have him between my legs, our two naked forms fused into one, his rough hands cupping my ass cheeks, lifting me into him.

God, I want this man yet I can’t have him. I squeeze my thighs together, struggling to contain my urge to touch him, to stroke him, taste him. He’s wrong for me in so many delectable ways and I shouldn’t be thinking of him. Nicolas, my stable, serious billionaire, should own my thoughts, my body, my heart.

“I have to go to work.” I step backward, retreating as I always do from temptation, and never have I been as tempted as I am right now.

My gaze lingers over Hawke’s wide leather-clad shoulders, massive arms, scarred knuckles. His tattoos remain hidden but I know they’re there, decorating his golden skin, as detailed as the designs on his bike. He’s big and broad, a mountain on wheels, giving the illusion of solidity yet destined to leave, the combination confusing my bad boy inner warning system.

“Hop on the back.” Hawke twists his torso and pats the tiny wedge of seat behind him, his palm smacking hard leather. “I’ll give you a ride.”

I skim my tongue over my bottom lip, the thought of sitting behind him, straddling his big body with my legs, pressing my breasts against his back, thrilling me.

“Do you have a helmet?” I ask, knowing the answer. Helmets aren’t mandatory in Chicago and a man like him doesn’t wear unnecessary protection. He takes risks, flying as free as the bird he’s named after, untamable and wild.

“No, I don’t have a helmet.” Hawke’s smile fades, his blue jean eyes growing serious. “But you’re safe in my hands, Belinda. I’ll be careful with you.” He extends one of his arms, holding his hand out to me.

I stare at his creased palm. It takes all of my willpower not to grasp his fingers, not to slide my hand in his, allowing him to pull me wherever he wants me to go.

“I can’t risk it.” I force the words, my heart screaming in protest.

“I see.” Hawke drops his hand. He doesn’t see. He thinks I’m talking about his bike. He doesn’t know the risk I can’t take is touching him.

I stared at the brunette beauty in front of my eyes and gently clasped her face, her blue eyes met mine and it felt like she could see all the way into my soul. She saw the shame, anger and guilt buried deep inside me, yet she didn’t turn away. Instead she clutched my shoulders, drawing me closer, as her full lush lips parted and softly brushed over mine. I groaned into her mouth as we gently kissed, all the while my stomach was doing somersaults that I’d never experienced until I clapped eyes on her.

My whole body ached with desire. I’d fucked hundreds of women before her, blondes, red heads, tall, short, skinny, plump, the odd brunette, yet I hadn’t felt this level of magnetism with a single one, until now. We were opposite poles destined to be attracted to each other, the odds of finding her had to be one in a … billion, yet here she was in my arms, willing me to taste her, caress her, possess her.

I took her over with deep plunges of my tongue into her warm mouth, as I slid one hand to the nape of her neck, holding her to keep her from escaping. My other gently clutched her throat, my thumb caressing her jaw as she melted in my arms. Damn it, I was feeling things from kissing her that I hadn’t even felt from sex with other women. What was she doing to me? I heard her softly moan my name, which made me groan again, I felt it to my very core. I reluctantly pulled away and tore my t-shirt over my head. I felt a surge of pride when she gasped as her eyes roved hungrily over my solid pecs and bulging oblique’s. Her body looked exquisite too, she had curves in all the right places and the way those jeans clung to that rounded backside made me quiver in anticipation of being able to caress it. I needed her naked, right now.

She looked up at me through her long lashes as her lips parted and her chest heaved, while I slowly unbuttoned her blouse and pushed it off her shoulders. She was bare chested and my cock surged at the sight of her perfectly formed pert breasts, with peaked soft pink nipples. I wanted to touch them, lick them, kiss them and suck them, then rip off her jeans, lay her down on the bed and touch every inch of her flawless porcelain skin. I’d make her come over and over with my fingers and tongue. I’d part her swollen pink folds and lash her clit with my tongue, teasing, pressing softly then hard, circling with occasional plunges into her warmth so she wouldn’t know what was coming next. I’d sink my fingers into her tight pussy and seek out her g-spot, stroking it again and again, as I gently sucked on her clit. I’d make her so wet that she’d be primed to accept my solid thick cock without complaint. Once she was crying with pleasure and begging to me to take her, I’d sink into her and make love to her until she pleaded with me to fill her with my hot salty come.

Make love to her? Something didn’t sound right with that. I didn’t make love, I fucked. Roughly.

I groaned as I opened my eyes and realised I was in bed, alone, dreaming. That damn girl wouldn’t even leave me in peace when I was asleep. Since the second I’d spotted her I could think of nothing else, I wanted nothing else. Now it was time I did something about it. I was actually meeting her in less than four hours, and the only thing I knew for certain was that I’d stop at nothing until I made her mine.

Even on a good day, I hated when guys were cryptic. Those of the Testosterone Persuasion already came with a mountain of senseless tendencies—did they really think they needed to add purposefully vague statements on top of that?

The fact that Adrian refused to elaborate on his enigmatic warning while I was tied up in his backseatmade it unbearable. As the time ticked on, I consoled myself by imagining hitting him in the head with something heavy. Or leaning over the seat and choking him with the band of duct tape around my wrists. If the back of this vehicle had had a cigarette lighter, I might’ve gotten creative with fantasies about that, too.

Guess being kidnapped turned me into a violent person.

“Are you a sex slaver?” I asked abruptly.

“Someone’s watched Taken too many times,” Adrian said, and the amusement in his tone grated on my last nerve.

“Why wouldn’t I think that?” I shot back. “You saved my life, but you’re taking me somewhere against my will, and you refuse to untie me.”

“You picked truth, remember?” was his infuriating response.

I swear, the first heavy object I got a hold of…! “You didn’t give me that, either.”

“Yes, I did.” He said it with a heavy-lidded, backward glance that would’ve made me straighten up and smile if he’d done it while we were sitting at a bar. “Just not all of it, but don’t worry. We’re here.”

With that statement, Adrian turned down a long road that led to a set of soaring, elaborately carved gates.

“Wait a sec while I open the gates,” he said, turning the car off and taking the keys with him.

I waited…until he was far enough away for me to make my move. Then I leaped over the seats. When I yanked on the driver’s side door, however, a large hand on the window prevented it from opening.

“Why am I not surprised?” Adrian said with irony dripping from his tone

I stared at his hand, as if that could explain how the rest of him was attached to it. A second ago, he’d been in front of those barbarically ornate gates, doing something that caused them to swing open with a mechanical moan.

No one could move that fast. Or, more accurately, no one should be able to move that fast.

“What are you?” I breathed.

His teeth flashed in a smile that was predatory and sexy at the same time.

“A couple hours ago, I wondered the same thing about you.”

Me? Before I could ask what he meant, he opened the door and let me out. Ice raced through my veins when I saw the knife in his other hand. That was also the moment when I noticed the sign on the gates: Green-Wood Cemetery.

“Don’t,” I gasped.

He raised a brow, cutting through the duct tape around my wrists. “You’re the one who wanted to be untied.”

My arms fell to my sides while relief roared over me, replacing the surge of fear-fueled adrenaline. Just as quickly, something snapped inside me. All the grief, anger, fear and frustration of the past ten days hurtled through my defenses, turning me into someone I didn’t recognize.

A rage monster.

My hand cracked across Adrian’s face with enough force to make it tingle and burn, and still, it wasn’t enough. I began beating on his chest, part of me horrified by my actions, but the rest urging me to hit him harder.

“What is the matter with you?” I yelled. “You pull out a knife with no explanation? I thought you were going to kill me!”

Adrian grabbed my hands. Any sane person would have recognized how overmatched I was and calmed the hell down, but I was way past sanity. With my hands out of commission, I kicked his shin hard enough to send pain shooting up my leg. He grunted, backing me up until I was pressed against the car hood. Now I had a wall of steel behind me and a wall of muscled flesh on top of me.

“Stop it,” Adrian ordered, his strange accent thicker with his vehemence. “I promise, I’m not going to hurt you!”

My breath came in pants. Adrian countered my attempt to drop down and wiggle free by pressing his thigh between my legs. I stopped that course of action at once, which was the same as admitting defeat. I couldn’t use my arms to push him away. He felt more solid and heavy than a stone gargoyle.

“Get off me,” I said between ragged breaths.

“Not until you calm down,” he replied sternly. Then the barest grin tugged at his mouth. “Feel free to take your time.”

I glanced down, only now registering that my breasts were pressed against his chest just as tightly as his thigh was wedged between my legs. Any movement on my part caused an embarrassingly personal friction, as if inhaling each other’s breaths while we panted wasn’t intimate enough.

I tried to slow my breathing, not to mention my galloping heartbeat. If not for his grin, I wouldn’t have known he thought anything of the compromising position he had me in.

If nothing else, he didn’t seem angry that I’d slapped, kicked and pummeled him. Now that my reckless rage had passed, I realized how stupid I’d been. One punch from his massive fist would’ve meant lights out, but he hadn’t hit back. Instead, he’d promised that he wouldn’t hurt me. Despite his kidnapping me and his refusal to give me answers about what was going on, I decided to believe him.

“Sorry I attacked you,” I said, my voice no longer shrill.

He shrugged like he was used to it. “Don’t worry. You were overdue for a breakdown, anyway.”

Just how many people have you kidnapped? I almost asked. Since I didn’t really want to know, all I said was, “Can you get off me? You’re heavy.”

He slowly uncurled his body from mine, but that silvery blue gaze stayed glued to me. I shivered, suddenly aware of how cold it was, now that I wasn’t covered by over two hundred pounds of warm-blooded male.

Adrian shrugged out of his coat, revealing a crew-neck black shirt that hugged his physique like it was paying homage. Of course he’d noticed the shiver. I wondered if anything escaped those piercing eyes.

I put it on. The hem had been mid-calf on him; it pooled on the ground with me. I’d never felt dainty around a guy before. I was comfortable at a size eight because I didn’t have to starve to maintain it, and my five-six height meant I could usually wear heels without being taller than my dates. Next to Adrian, however, I seemed to drop twenty pounds while also shrinking a few inches. Of course, his bulk was all muscle. Feeling him on top of me had made that clear….

I nixed that line of thought before it led to other, more dangerous musings, and tightened his coat around me.

“If we’re not here so you can kill me and bury my body in an empty plot, what else is there to do at a cemetery?” I asked with admirable calm.

He laughed, the deep, masculine rumble teasing something inside me that was too stupid to realize kidnappers were off-limits. That’s why I refused to notice the chin dimple it revealed, or how his lower lip was fuller than the top one.

“Lots of things, but we’ll get to that later.”

“Sure there’s going to be a later?” I challenged him.

“Of course.” Another tantalizing smile. “Since you and I are from the same line, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me.”

Line? “You think we’re related?”

His gaze brushed me like a physical caress. “Not like that, thankfully. That would make our first date awkward.”

I stared at him in disbelief. “You’re hitting on me?” I finally managed. “Do you have any idea how twisted that is?”

He shrugged. “I don’t do subtle, it wastes time. Besides—” the silvery part of his eyes gleamed like liquid moonlight “—if you say you don’t find me attractive, I’ll know you’re lying.”

Under other circumstances, I might have blushed at being busted ogling someone I’d just met, but my kidnapper was hitting on me! Should that make me more afraid, or less? He’d already saved my life once and had had plenty of chances to harm me since, yet he hadn’t.

Plus, I wouldn’t be much fun as a date if I was dead.

“How about we hold the date talk until you give me the answers you promised?” I said, part of me wondering if tonight could get any stranger. The other part felt happy for the first time in over a week. Stupid ovaries. Down, girls, down!

Adrian’s expression turned serious. “I’m taking you to the person who can give you those answers.”

“Zach?” I asked, remembering Adrian mentioning the name.

“That’s him. This cemetery is almost five hundred acres, so if you don’t want to spend hours walking around in the cold—” he went over to the passenger side of the vintage-looking muscle car and opened the door “—get in.”

He was giving me a choice. Or at least, the illusion of one. If I ran, we both knew he could catch me.

The car’s interior light showed a hint of stubble trying to break through the smooth skin along his jaw, shadowing it in a way that was far too attractive. His exotic accent wasn’t helping, either. If I was ever kidnapped again, it had better be by an old, ugly guy. That would be less confusing to my emotions.

And less embarrassing. What idiot got caught lusting over her kidnapper? No wonder he’d asked me out. He must have thought I gave “easy” a whole new definition.

I walked over, thinking that even if I could run away from him, I wouldn’t. My sister was trapped in a place that shouldn’t be real, yet somehow was, and Adrian was my only ally because he could see the same crazy things that I did. More importantly, Adrian had proven that he was able to kill those things.

If he was able to help me save my sister, I’d not only take him up on his date offer. I’d pay for everything and seriously consider putting out.

I got in the passenger side, hearing the door lock as soon as he shut it. I tried to open it. Nothing. My sense of unease returned. What kind of person saved people just to kidnap them, and had a vehicle you could only exit from the driver’s side?

Then again, as Adrian slid into the seat next to me with an almost spooky fluidity, I realized what kind of person he was might be less important than what he was.

By: Melissa Foster
Releasing August 25th, 2014

Blurb
Bella Abbascia has returned to Seaside Cottages in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, as she does every summer. Only this year, Bella has more on her mind than sunbathing and skinny-dipping with her girlfriends. She’s quit her job, put her house on the market, and sworn off relationships while she builds a new life in her favorite place on earth. That is, until good-time Bella’s prank takes a bad turn and a sinfully sexy police officer appears on the scene.

Single father and police officer Caden Grant left Boston with his fourteen-year-old son, Evan, after his partner was killed in the line of duty. He hopes to find a safer life in the small resort town of Wellfleet, and when he meets Bella during a night patrol shift, he realizes he’s found the one thing he’d never allowed himself to hope for—or even realized he was missing.

After fourteen years of focusing solely on his son, Caden cannot resist the intense attraction he feels toward beautiful Bella, and Bella’s powerless to fight the heat of their budding romance. But starting over proves more difficult than either of them imagined, and when Evan gets mixed up with the wrong kids, Caden’s loyalty is put to the test. Will he give up everything to protect his son—even Bella?

My Review
Bella is thinking of leaving her home and her old job behind and move full time to the Seaside Cottages. She goes every summer but after a bad break up she is thinking it's time for a change. She is known for breaking a few rules and her little but of a wild side makes her end up on a sexy cops radar. Caden moved from Boston to get a fresh start for him and his teenage son. His partner was killed and it is time for a change. He has never had time for dating or women since he was left with his son when he was a week old. Bella makes him want something more. They are opposites and she is afraid of commitment. The closer they get the hotter things get between them the more complicated things become. His son has got involved in the wrong crowd and Caden thinks he can't have a relationship and raise his son as well.  He thinks he has to give her up but he may realize to late he gave up one of the best things in his life.

Bella is so much fun to read about with all the little things she gets her friends and her self into. She is afraid to take a chance on a relationship again but she can't help wanting Caden. She really hides her true self except with her friends. She is sexy but she can also be very sweet. She doesn't just want Caden, she also takes a motherly interest in Evan his son. Caden is a wonderful dad and there is no doubt about that. He is a good cop and he doesn't really take a lot of time for his self. He is sexy but it seems Bella brings the most of it out in him. He can at times be clueless about dating and it makes him more charming.

If you read my reviews you know I love these books and this author. I really enjoyed getting to see more of the Seaside women. They all are great individually but together they are the type you want to hang out with. Bella's story is a great one. the little rule breaker and the cop. They both have problems committing for different reasons and have to work it out. Add in a moody teenager and they have a few problems to overcome. It seems they both are in a point in their lives where they are making changes and they have to decide what changes are for the best for them. The girls will have you laughing and Evan will have you wanting to hug him to make him open up. I enjoyed this story and how caring they all are of each other. If you want a wonderful series try this author's!

Blurb
In the vein of Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series and Shelly Laurenston’s Pride Stories, Vonnie Davis introduces two wandering souls who discover that true love needs no words in this explosive, fantastical novel.

Two wandering souls discover that true love needs no words in this explosive, fantastical novel from Vonnie Davis.

Somehow able to telepathically communicate with animals, Paisley Munro has found meaning in her so-called gifts by working as a veterinary assistant. But while traveling to Scotland for a relative’s funeral, Paisley fears that she really has lost her mind. Out in the highlands, she hears distinctly human thoughts coming from a wild bear. Terrified and desperate, she returns to the lodge and collapses in the powerful arms of its owner, a mysterious man with whom she shares a simmering attraction.

Creighton Matheson and his fellow shape-shifters have been roaming this land freely for centuries. Now Paisley may inherit his home, putting his kind in grave danger. His mistrust only deepens when he realizes she can read his mind. Yet he cannot deny that this tantalizing woman makes him burn with desire—and hunger for the prospect of a tender love. Now Creighton must decide which would hurt more: revealing the truth or losing Paisley forever.

My Review
Paisley has always found it hard to tell anyone about her ability to communicate with animals. She has been rejected in the past for letting some know of her gift. She loves her job as a veterinarian assistant and how her gift comes in handy. She goes on a trip to Scotland with her grandmother for a funeral. When she gets there she gets a surprise as the animals near seem to know her and where waiting on her. To add to the surprise she sees bears even when everyone tells her there is none. Then she hears an animals thoughts coming from Creighton the sexy highlander who she meets. Creighton is a shapeshifter who doesn't want Paisley and her grandmother to tear apart his land. He doesn't trust them but he senses something different about her. She may be the one to break the curse he carries. There is no denying they want each to her they just have to work on a few issues like their trust, open up about their gifts and the fact she has a fiance back home. Secrets could tear them apart and they may never have a chance unless they learn to trust each other.

Creighton at first seems like a moody man. He is actually very caring and sweet. With his niece you see how gentle he can be. he is also very protective of his people and those he cares for. Sexy is one thing he is for sure. Paisley has some problems. She is afraid to let anyone down and afraid to let people in. She would rather be pushed around than hurt someones feelings. She can have a huge temper at times. She seems like the perfect mate for a shapeshifter. I will say I love her grandmother so much and she reminds me of what my own grandmother was like.

Raise you hand if you like hot sexy Scotsman. Raise you hand if you love a great shifter story. If you raised your hand to either one of these you will love this book. I loved how Paisley even if she is attracted to Creighton she still doesn't just dump her fiance. She does try her best to hold on to something she shouldn't. A place full of shifters and they are for the most part great people. they believe in treated people right and don't put up with people being mistreated. This book has a good plot that not only deals with shape shifters but other magic as well. I enjoyed every bit of it. You get to see both Paisley and Creighton and what makes them tick. they have all sorts of problems but somehow still power through them. There is hot scenes, danger scenes and even several scenes that will make you laugh. I eagerly look forward to more in this series.
