Forbidden Kiss : Review

Forbidden Kiss
by Shannon Leigh

Blurb
Jule Casale is the perfect daughter. Obedient. Trustworthy. Loyal. With her high profile Italian family, her public image must be impeccable. And now to gain the respect and position she's desired in the academic world, she hopes to discover the unknown artist behind a masterpiece of Renaissance art.

Rom Montgomery seeks the unobtainable: forgiveness. Those who could grant him relief are dead. Instead, he wanders across continents and through time searching for salvation and the means to right an ancient wrong. But when Jule comes knocking on his door, it's the closest he's ever come to finally finding redemption. The closer Rom draws to correcting his past mistakes, the more his secrets threaten to destroy the woman who might hold the key to his future.

My Review
Jule does what is best for her family. She obeys them, keeps out of trouble and doesn't drag their name down. She is passionate about one thing and that is art. She will do anything to find out who the mysterious artist is of a painting she has found from the Renaissance era. To figure it out and gain the respect of the art world she needs help. She goes to Rom as it is said he knows a lot. Rom isn't what people think he is. He has been alive a long time and only wants to find forgiveness and find away to be with his love who died a long time ago. Jule may have the key to achieving all that for him. Even when they agree to work together Rom tries to keep her at a distance and tries to figure out the art mystery his self. It could hold the clue to how he can move on. Jule soon follows him as she is trying to escape a marriage her family has set up. She and Rom reunite and grow closer together. The art could lead to Rom ending his long suffering but it could also lead to Jule losing her life.

Jule is a divorced woman who just wants to make a name for her self. She loves her family but wants something that is hers. She has visions she can't explain and she doesn't tell anyone about them. She is very smart, tougher than she thinks and will not be forced to do what she doesn't want to do. Rom is very mysterious and has hid behind many names. He has seen so much war and hardship in his life. He is a man riddle by guilt. He keeps to his self and doesn't really let anyone get close as he has secrets.

What a fascinating read this was. This story is a retelling of a famous story that you will figure out as you read. I have to say it was one of the best I have ever read of the retelling. The author does an amazing with this one. Both Jule and Rom are characters you can connect with easy and you hope they find happiness. Even in this modern time Jule has pretty much been sold to be the wife f a horrible man and her family expects her to do it. She isn't about to and she just wants her own life. She isn't one to sit back and let a man fix everything for her. Even when Rom tries to get her to stay somewhere safe she doesn't allow him to run into danger alone. Rom is so hurt and really at times he just wants to die. He is immortal and has never let go of the past. He and Jules help each other in so many ways. They face danger as the man who wants Jule is more than he seems as well. This one is packed full of danger, a mystery and passion. I look forward to reading more form this author as she does a great job in tis book making it a page turner.
