Entangled Moments
Moments in Time Book One
By: Dori Lavelle

Blurb
A deadly accident can take a life in more than one way.

Four years ago, Carlene Adams made a deadly mistake. A tragic accident derailed the future she'd hoped for, taking the life of the man she'd planned to spend forever with.

As a self-imposed penance for her solitary sin, Carlene has given up on every dream she ever had. She has committed to spend every remaining moment trying to make up for that one instance when everything changed.

Then she gets a second chance.

When Carlene meets Nick, the single kiss they share awakens the desires she shoved aside for so long. Suddenly she wants more than what she believe she deserves. Will she ever see him again? And if she does, what will that mean for her?

A thing of fate.

Leaving the life she built on regret, Carlene waits for fate to intervene. But just as she begins to believe in a fresh start, she's forced to realize a horrible truth—one with the power to send her second chance crashing before it even takes off.

Nick isn't who she thought he was. She isn't the girl he believed her to be, either. Their lives were intertwined even before they met, and if Carlene tells him the truth, she’ll risk tearing them apart—for good.

** Due to sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18. **

My Review
Carlene was part of a tragic accident that killed her fiance. She left everything she knew behind and has been hiding out helping  others in need.  It's been four years since the accident and she meets Nick. They talk and share a kiss that gives her the desire to start her life over. She doesn't know if she will ever see him again. She gets a wonderful job and her life starts to improve greatly. Another chance encounter has her meeting Nick again and she finds he has a few secrets she didn't know. Her past may just come between them before they have a chance at love as well. They have more in common than they know but it may be to much for them to handle.

This is a short quick read but you really want more after you finish it. Carlene has let her past keep her from living a normal life and it takes meeting Nick to get her to see she needs to live again. She s a good person and you keep wanting her to succeed in her goals. You really don't get the details on how the accident happened with her fiance and it does leave you wanting to know what happened. She seems like such a good person you have to know. Nick at first to me seemed like a nice guy. In the middle of the story I kinda didn't like him for his secret and the ending I didn't care much for him. At times he can seem like a super great, sweet guy and others times you want to knock some sense into him. Carlene and Nick both have a lot of chemistry between them which you get to see when they get together. The ending left me wanting the next story now as I have to know how things are going to turn out. This book will only wet your appetite as you wait to see what the future holds for these two.

North Pole Reform School - Review

North Pole Reform School
by Jaimie Admans
Blurb
Mistletoe Bell hates Christmas. So would you if you had a name like hers. Her Christmas-mad parents make the festive season last all year, and with another Christmas looming, Mis doesn’t think she can take any more. After her carelessness causes an accident at school, it seems like things can’t get any worse.

Then she wakes up to find The Ghost of Christmases Ruined in her bedroom.

She is taken to the North Pole, to a reform school run by elves determined to make her love Christmas. Stuck in a misfit group of fellow Christmas-haters with a motley crew of the weird and even weirder, watched over by elves day and night, she doesn’t expect to meet cute and funny Luke, who is hiding a vulnerable side beneath his sarcastic exterior. She doesn’t expect to fall in love with him.

But all is not as it should be at the North Pole. A certain Mr Claus is making the elves’ lives a misery, and pretty soon Mistletoe and Luke are doing more than just learning to like Christmas.

A YA romantic comedy in which Santa is the bad guy, teaching reindeer to fly is on the curriculum, and zombies have a fondness for Christmas music.

Suitable for older teens and upwards due to bad language.

My Review
Mistletoe Bell hates Christmas. Her family loves the holiday as you can tell by her name. She wants nothing to do with the holiday at all.She ruins Christmas one to many times and gets a visit from the Ghost of Christmases Ruined which is a purple moose. She awakes to find she is in the North Pole and must take a course in the North Pole Reform School. She along with four other people have been told they have ruined Christmas and must change their ways. While the elves aren't to bad she does connect with Luke another Christmas hater. They all have jobs to help out with but they don't like the way things are going in the North Pole. Santa is a jerk, the elves treated badly and there is zombies trying to get in. They have to change their ways to get home.

I have to say this is one of my favorite books I have read this year. I laughed so much in this book. You will hate Santa in this book and you see how they he gets what is coming to him. I love what did happen to him. The elves are hilarious. You have some that are nice, some that are broken down by Santa and even a jerk elf. They all have jobs to do. The reindeer are so awesome and you even get to meet baby reindeer. Mistletoe gets to teach them to fly which really helps her spirits. This bunch goes in hating Christmas but after just visiting through the book even I got in a better holiday mood. Luke is awesome he may seem like he could be a jerk a few times but you see he is truly a great guy. I have to say I love how things turned out for him. oh and if the elves, Santa and reindeer weren't enough you get zombies!! Yes I love zombies and they have a great part to play in this book. If you want a book you will really enjoy that stands out as different and great pick this one up.

Christmas Past - Review

Christmas Past
by Susanna Fraser
Blurb
Time-traveling PhD student Sydney Dahlquist’s first mission sounded simple enough—spend two weeks in December 1810 collecting blood samples from the sick and wounded of Wellington’s army, then go home to modern-day Seattle and Christmas with her family. But when her time machine breaks, stranding her in the past, she must decide whether to sacrifice herself to protect the timeline or to build a new life—and embrace a new love—two centuries before her time.

Rifle captain Miles Griffin has been fascinated by the tall, beautiful "Mrs. Sydney" from the day he met her caring for wounded soldiers. When he stumbles upon her time travel secret on Christmas Eve, he vows to do whatever it takes to seduce her into making her home in his present—by his side.

My Review
Sydney is on her first journey as a time traveler. She has went back to 1810 to get blood samples and what should be an easy journey has become something more. Her machine has quit working and now she is trapped in that time. She knows protocol says she can't interfere or talk much to the people in the time. It could effect the future if she does. She is supposed to destroy the machine and herself. Miles is a captain with the army and has been keeping an eye on Sydney who he is very attracted to. When he finds her on a Christmas Eve and her time machine he knows he has to keep her for all time his time. He just has to convince her she needs to stay with him and not worry about the future.

This is a short story but I loved it. Sydney is a wonderful character that is torn in many ways. She wants to go home, she knows she should do what she has been told to do in this situation and she also has fallen for Miles and wants to stay with him. I know it had to be hard for her either way she went. Miles is amazing. He is from a time when woman didn't do or act the way Sydney does. He doesn't care but wants her any way. She tries her best to tell him as little about the future as she can but does tell him about her Christmas with her family. He does everything he can to get her to stay. They may be from different times but they are perfect together. If you like a love story, one about time travel or just want a quick great read pick this one up.

Once Upon a Highland Christmas - Review

Once Upon a Highland Christmas (Scandalous Scots 0.5)
by Sue-Ellen Welfonder
Blurb
ONCE UPON A HIGHLAND CHRISTMAS

Warrior Grim Mackintosh understands why his friend Archibald MacNab has decreed there be no trace of Christmas in his castle. After a devastating attack destroyed everything-and everyone-in Archie's life, he prefers to stew in his own misery until the holiday passes. But Duncreag has seen enough tragedy. Grim decides to throw a grand Yuletide feast, one that the bards will sing about for years to come, one that will remind his laird how beloved he is. He can't do it alone, though. Grim needs an accomplice . . .

There's nothing Breena O'Doherty won't do for Archie, so she's thrilled to help Grim with his plan. Yet she has a Christmas wish all her own-to win Grim's heart-and this might be her only chance to make it come true. As Breena and Grim work together to bring the joy of the season to the cold, gloomy castle and to the heart of the cantankerous chieftain, an undeniable passion ignites between them. But when a shocking secret about Breena's past comes to light, threatening everything she holds dear, will it ruin Christmas in Duncreag forevermore?

My Review
Archibald MacNab has decided there will be no festivities this year at his castle. An attack took away more than things he loves and made him not want to celebrate. Breena tries her best to bring cheer back into the castle, but every time she does they disappear. She thinks Grim the sexy highlander is behind the missing things until she sees he is trying to bring the Yuletide cheer to the castle as well. Both want Archie to be happy and set out together to bring him out of his bad mood. The journey they take brings them closer together and make them see they are perfect for each other. They just have to get over their own feelings of self worth.

This is a cute story about two great people who clearly belong together. Both Breena and Grim want to make their friend happy and they clearly both want each other. It takes them going out of the castle to get a celebration planned for them to see it. I love how they both don't think they deserve the other. It makes them feel more real. It takes a lot to get them to see they are worth something. This book is full of love and a very charming read. If your looking for a good, sweet read I would say pick this one up.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Blurb
Curl up with this heartwarming Christmas collection!

Jill Shalvis, Dream a Little Dream: Melissa has kept every man at a safe distance-especially firefighter Ian, a sexy friend with sexy benefits. But Ian secretly longs for more. Luckily, 'tis the season for giving love a chance . . .

Kristen Ashley, Every Year: Holidays don't come easy for Shy and his brother, Landon. But with the magic of Christmas, along with a little help from Tabby and her family, the Cage brothers are about to get the gift of a lifetime . . .

Hope Ramsay, Silent Night: Down on her luck and evicted from her apartment, single mother Maryanne hopes to start over in Last Chance. Molly Cannon, Have Yourself a Messy Little Christmas: Lincoln is a bachelor who's set in his ways-until a professional organizer dressed up as Mrs. Claus changes his life, one tip at a time. . .

Marilyn Pappano, A Family for Christmas: War widow Ilena doesn't mind spending Christmas alone. But when a new doctor blows into town with the winter wind, will she get her secret Christmas wish?

My Review
This is a collection of short Christmas stories. Some are filled with hope, some with love and all get you in the holiday mood. The two that really stood out as my favorites are Dream a little Dream and Every Year. The others are good it's just those two really wowed me.

Dream a Little Dream by Jill Shalvis
Every time someone gets close Melissa runs away. She ran from Ian and now regrets it. She had real feelings for him and it's to late now. Ian has never forgot or quit wanting Melissa. When a fire comes close to taking Melissa, Ian does everything in his power as a fireman to save her. He has to get her to see they belong together.

I liked this story as it is about second chances and how you shouldn't give up on love. The author is a wonderful writer that creates wonderful characters you come to know and love even in a short story. Ian is the sexy fireman with what seems like the heart of gold. He truly cares about Melissa. Melissa is scared of commitment and tries her best not to get her heart broke. She has to see that Ian will never hurt her or break her heart. Ian talks to Melissa and they seem to share the same dreams. I love the ending and how Melissa comes around.

Every Year by Kristen Ashley
Shy and Landon don't have good Christmas memories. It is a bad time of year for them. However Tabby and her family do their best to see the brothers get a good Christmas and share their holidays with them. They show them you can still have a great Christmas no matter the age.

I have to say right away I so love all these characters and want more of them. Shy is so sexy and well Lando is to. Tabby and her family aren't the normal family. They are bikers and while you would think they would be all gruff they care so much for each other. I love seeing them do things for kids and how much they mean to each other. They include Shy and Landon in their family and really make them feel part of it. Shy and Tabby together really heat things up and I love them as a couple. I am going to check out more books about this great bunch.

The other three stories are good. I will say some of them I liked better than others. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a wonderful Christmas story.

I received this book from Netgalley for a honest review.

I'll Be Home for Christmas - Review

I'll Be Home For Christmas (Coming Home #2.5)
by Jessica Scott

Blurb
There's nothing in the world Army Sergeant Vic Carponti loves more than his wife and his country. Smart-mouthed and easy tempered, he takes everything as a joke...except his promise to come home to his wife, Nicole, for Christmas. As he prepares to leave for his latest deployment into Iraq, Vic will do everything he can to shield his beautiful, supportive wife from the realities of war...and from his own darkest fears.

As a career army wife, Nicole Carponti knows just what to expect from her husband's tour of duty: loneliness, relentless worry, and a seemingly endless countdown until the moment Vic walks through the door again. But when the unthinkable happens, Nicole and Vic's bond is tested like never before and changes everything they believe to be true about the power of love and the simple beauty of being home for the holidays.

My Review
Army Sergeant Vic Carponti is preparing to leave for another deployment. He tries to act like it's just another tour and keep his wife from knowing he is scared. This trip feels different from the normal one. He is the one who keeps everyone's spirits up in the war. He loves his wife very much and just wants to come home to her. Nicole is used to her husband going to war but it doesn't stop her from worrying. They try their best to keep things going smoothly till something bad happens. He might not make it home for the holidays after all.

I really enjoyed this story as you get both Vic and Nicole's POV. You get to see both sides of them being lonely and how they try to do little things for each other to keep the fires going. Vic is the type of guy you just love. He does whatever he can to keep the other soldiers spirits up. He has a few problems with a higher up officer and he doesn't back down. A few times he gets way down but he hides it. You will get a kick on how he passes his time. I love all the things he does for Nicole. Nicole tries to pass her time staying busy but she has many heart stopping moments when she doesn't hear from Vic. When he is do home and something goes wrong. She will stop at nothing to be with him. She is the perfect match for Vic. This book will show you glimpse inside the soldier and soldiers family lives. You have joy with them and sadness. I recommend this book for anyone wanting a good book about a great couple.

Reaver - Review

Reaver (Lords of Deliverance #5)
by Larissa Ione

Blurb
WARRIOR OF HEAVEN

Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels-and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell-he's agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before...to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself.

ANGEL OF HELL

Harvester is one of the Fallen, a once-heroic angel who sacrificed her wings to work as an undercover agent in hell. But now her cover has been blown, and she's been doomed to an eternity of agonizing torture. Even if Reaver can snatch her away from Satan's lair, even if they can fight their way out of the underworld's darkest depths, there is one thing Harvester can never escape-her newfound thirst for an angel's blood...

My Review
Reaver isn't a perfect angel. He has a bad past and he isn't afraid to fight. He also has problems following orders. Now he will break the rules to go to hell to save Harvester. She also has a past and together they haven't had the best relationship. Reaver will do whatever it takes to save her. With Satan after them and angels against them as well they will have a very hard time escaping hell. Reaver's lost memory may hold more secrets than even he can guess.

I love Reaver! He is a badass angel who while he doesn't like to break the rules he will if he feels it is the right thing to do. He doesn't give up and just keeps going. You see how sexy he can be as well. This is one hot angel. I also loved seeing a softer side of him at times and how getting called one name can light his world up. To say Harvester has had a rough time is really not enough. She has been tortured, abused and so much more. You see how good her heart is because even with a history between her and Reaver she still looks after those he loves. She is also a fighter and tough one. She is willing to give up happiness just so those she loves can be safe. She doesn't hold her tongue and says what she thinks. These two are so meant for each other.

While I haven't read all the books in this series I can say what I have read so far this is an amazing series. I love all the characters and all the action. This book is packed full of action as they try to escape hell and also have two sides trying to use them in ways. Reaver and Harvester have a huge amount of chemistry between them and because of their past are afraid in some ways to get to close. It seems they have a hard time finding time to be alone. If you have read the other books in this series I will say there is several big surprises in store for Reaver. Your heart might break a little a few times in this book as you see the worst has happened a few times. The author does such an amazing job keeping your interest as you read and it has a nice fast pace. I can't wait for the next book.

Excerpt

Cyntag slowly waved his hand in front of her face, his eyes staring straight into hers between his long fingers. “Crescents can identify one another by our eyes. Some are icy glitter, some swirling mist, and others burning embers.”
Her heart hitched. Hadn’t she seen a glow in his eyes?
He lowered his hand. “Moncrief cast an illusion spell to hide the magick in your eyes. You looked like a Mundane, a regular human. Now that he’s gone, the spell is wearing off. Soon it will be obvious to every Crescent who sees you.”
She walked over to a gilt-framed mirror on the side wall and stared at herself. No glow. He was full of it. “I don’t see anything like what you described.”
“Because you cannot see.” He came up behind her. “You have not been Awakened. Crescents are initiated in a ceremony at thirteen, when their powers begin to appear. It’s similar to those of many native tribes to celebrate a coming of age. But much more comes with being an Awakened Crescent.”
Thirteen. She remembered a gnawing hunger deep in her belly and vivid dreams filled with colors and longing and…dragons.
Cyntag brushed her bangs from her forehead, his thumb grazing the skin near her burn. “The orb did this?” She nodded, and anger shimmered over his face. “Unacceptable.”
“I thought so.”
He’d said it as though the attack on her was a personal affront to him. Like he owns you.
“Right now you’re like a baby chick fallen prematurely from the nest, without feathers developed enough to fly from danger or any way to fight enemies. Unable to even see them. You might get a glimpse now and then, but that won’t be enough.”
“You’re saying I have powers?” Could her disbelief be more clear? “Can I make one of those orb-lightning-bolt things?”
Another twitch of a smile. “Sorry, no. However, you are much more magnificent than mere magick.”
“I’m magnificent. Yeah.” She couldn’t help but glance down at herself. “Fine, how do I get…what’d you call it? Awakened?” Let’s play along.
“Considering the circumstances, only I can awaken your powers.”
Did his arrogance know no bounds? Dumb question, Ruby. “What do I have to give you for that?”
“You assume there’s a price?”
“There’s always a price.” She could see that he had one too.
He stepped closer, again breaching boundaries. She wouldn’t move away. If only she didn’t have to look up at him. Even being five-foot-eight, he was way taller. His heat reached out, beckoning her. She stiffened her stance. The dragon tattoo eyed her, but no, she did not see it move.
He waited until she drew her gaze back to his face. “The price is that once you see, you can never go back to being blind. Once you know, you can never forget. Once you experience your true nature, you can never ignore it.”
“Ignore what?”
He released a breath. “We’d better start with the small stuff.”

Hi everyone! I have the release blast for Reaver today along. There is an excerpt from the book and a giveaway.
REAVER by Larissa Ione

Blurb
Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels-and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell-he's agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before . . . to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself.

Harvester is one of the Fallen, a once-heroic angel who sacrificed her wings to work as an undercover agent in hell. But now her cover has been blown, and she's doomed to an eternity of agonizing torture. Even if Reaver can snatch her away from Satan's lair, even if they can fight their way out of the underworld's darkest depths, there is one thing Harvester can never escape-her newfound thirst for an angel's blood. . .

Bio:
A former meteorologist and EMT, Air Force veteran Larissa Ione now gets her daily dose of excitement from vampires, werewolves, demons, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. She lives in wintery Wisconsin with her U.S. Coast Guard husband, her teenage son, a rescue cat, and her hellhound, a King Shepherd named Hexe.

Excerpt

“R-Reaver?”
Reaver held Harvester’s frail body tight against his as he navigated the final steps of a winding ledge that dropped them into a world of weird. “It’s me. It’s okay. We’re safe.”
Relatively safe, anyway. Relative meaning that they weren’t dead. Yet. He just hoped the same could be said for Tavin, Matt, and Calder. When he’d left them to sneak into Satan’s realm, they’d been engaged in a battle they’d initiated as a diversion. It had been a risky move, and Reaver could only pray they’d make it to the rendezvous point.
A hunter’s horn sounded in the distance and was answered by another, closer horn signal. Satan’s minions hadn’t gained ground, but they were spreading out. Damn.
He scanned the landscape of thorny plants, hills of blackened earth and trees, and twisted, abandoned structures. Nothing moved.
He looked down at Harvester, and as before when he first saw her hanging over a pit of acid, he felt sick to his stomach. He didn’t like Harvester even though he was grateful for the things she’d done, but she didn’t deserve this; her naked body too thin and mottled with bruises and ligature marks, her once silken black hair tangled and dull, and worst of all, missing her gorgeous green eyes.
Under ideal circumstances, an angel could heal from even the most heinous injuries within hours. But these were far from ideal circumstances, and Harvester’s source of power, her wings, had been severed. Without wings or medical assistance, it could take weeks, even months, for an angel’s body to fully heal.
“I can’t risk healing you more than I did,” he said. “My power isn’t reliable right now, and I could do more harm than good.”
“Reaver,” she croaked, as if he hadn’t spoken. “Why…how…”
“Shh.” He tucked her face into his chest, quieting her. “We’re going to meet up with some friends, and then I’ll answer all your questions.”
Reaver and the assassins had worked out a plan A and a plan B. Plan A had been shot to hell when iron gates had prevented Reaver from getting out of Satan’s realm to the south, where his companions would have been waiting. Now, with demons in pursuit, they were on their way to plan B. Hopefully Tav, Matt, and Calder had realized quickly that Reaver’s escape route had gone bad.
Inhaling the stench of rotten vegetation that permeated this section of Sheoul, he started away from the skeletons of some burned-out buildings and toward a mountain range as expansive as the Rockies. He moved swiftly, outrunning the sounds of pursuit and pausing once to blast a group of imps with a ball of lightning. The sphere struck the leader, and from there sent electrical strikes at each of the surrounding imps, frying them all in a handy eight-for-one.
Harvester slept in his arms, barely stirring when he stopped to listen for anyone following them. By the time they neared the plan B meeting site, Reaver was sure they’d lost the demons—temporarily. Reaver wasn’t naive enough to think they were off the hook. The demons chasing them were only the first wave, the security detail unlucky enough to be guarding the dungeon Harvester was kept in.

Once Satan got wind of this, if he hadn’t already, Reaver and Harvester were going to have legions of minions on their heels.

Into Cabot Saltonstall’s sedate world blows Dakota Bishop, possessor of a wild spirit and a magical love charm. Cabot’s blue-blood family history includes an ancestor who resigned from the Salem Witch trials, because he refused to believe in witchcraft.

But Cabot is all too willing to be bewitched.

Dakota can’t stay still long enough for anyone to tie her down, nor is Cabot the right kind of guy for her. If only he’d have sex with her so she could get him out of her system. Why does he need to be so traditional with his emotions and plans for the future?

Does she know enough of witchcraft to overcome the spell of the accidentally cast love charm?

About the Author

The Snow Queen by Alana Albertson

Blurb
Five years ago, Cambridge Ballet’s Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier vanished after performing The Nutcracker. Despite extensive city and statewide searches, no traces of them, besides their ballet slippers, were ever found. Every year since, another member of the cast has gone missing after closing night: the Mouse King, an Arabian Dancer, The Dew Drop Fairy, a Flower. Nieves Alba, who as a thirteen-year-old played Clara in the first ill-fated performance, is now cast as the Snow Queen. On closing night, every police officer in Boston surrounds the theater, determined to catch the perpetrator whom they’ve dubbed “The Nutcracker.” Can Nieves break the curse or will she be the next victim of America’s favorite ballet?

About the Author
Alana Albertson never was fortunate to get cast as the snow queen though she did play the soldier. She has extensive collections of snow globes and nutcrackers but none of them have ever been enchanted.

My Review
This is a wonderful collection of short stories. You have some that are creepy, some with love, some are hot and everything in between. A Kiss is Just a Kiss was a delightful read. I like how Holly was trying to get over being a stalker. She wanted Will and one night wasn't enough. She even goes as far as.a.Love charm to see if it would work. At the end you are left wondering did it work or not. Until the Twelfth Night features Lady Elizabeth trying to get over the loss of her husband. She finds the house she is staying at is supposed to be haunted and she along with Captain Wolfe try to figure things out. The story of this ghost is a neat one. In the Bleak Midwinter Ayla has to return home on a break from school. She really only goes back to protect her sister from an abusive father. This is the darkest story to me. Ayla' s father is a horrible man. I think the author does a great job with the hunt and I like how it ended. How Lovely Your Branches was a very neat story. I loved all the characters and really wanted it to be a longer story. I wanted more of the characters. It is a spooky but hot read. The Snow Queen gives you the ballerina twist. While it is easy to guess who the bad guy is I love the twist he does with the ballerinas. This is a case of you don't know real love when it's been there all along. Love Charm for Dakota brings you a story about a witch and a love charm. I have to say at first I didn't like the male character is this book. He seemed cocky to me. I have to say he did redeem his self to me. The Perfect Gift was one of my favorite stories. When a marriage is falling apart one woman thinks getting the perfect gift will make things better. She and her husband have to see they had everything they need to be happy they just need to be open and communicate better. This one actually has a great lesson to me in. Material things don't mean as much as people think. I also love one couples name.in this book and never got the link till the end.

If you like paranormal stories or just stories that are different you will like this set. Unholy Nights includes a delightful range in plots and twist. There is a story for everyone to enjoy. While I did enjoy some stories more than others they all are good.
