Sweet Nothings
Sugar Springs #2
By: Kim Law
Releasing January 1st, 2014

Blurb
Joanie Bigbee, cupcake baker extraordinaire, likes to keep her options open--and she's good at it. She's started and sold some 30 businesses in her postage stamp-sized Tennessee town, and at the moment she can be found in a short skirt and go-go boots, selling cupcakes out of the back of a converted Volkswagen van. What she moves on to next is anybody's guess. She knows better than to be tied down. In any way. She's watched every woman in her family fall head-over-heels, only to find themselves wondering how to pick up the pieces when love is lost.

When Nick Dalton shows up at the groovy cupcakery, all Joanie wants is a taste; a fling with no strings suits her just fine. But for Nick, a bite is not enough; he wants the whole cake: a big house, a family, true love. But love only makes you stupid, right? Joanie has to decide whether to follow where her free-spirit leads? or hold on to the sweetest thing she's ever known.

My Review
Joanie loves to start a business and then flip it for money. It is what she is good at and how she makes a living. However she has to now fix up her childhood home and sale it or her grandmother will have to come live with her. That is the last thing she wants as they don't always get along. She in list the help of Nick to fix up the house so she can sell it. She has no desire or needs to be tied down. Being form a family that marriages don't seem to work out she doesn't plan on making that step. Nick wants more than a fling with Joanie. He is the type of guy who wants a happily ever after. He just has to get Joanie to see that not all relationships have to end.

Joanie is a sexy smart woman who isn't afraid of hard work. She is afraid of commitment. She can be funny at times but lets her past keep a hold on her and effects how she lives. Nick is a great guy who wants to help everyone. He is a hard worker who doesn't like to give up. He tries his best to help Joanie in every way he can.

I really enjoyed this book and most of the characters. I have to say I din't like one of Nick's brothers or Joanie's mom much but once you read the book you will see why. I love the setting of this story as it is a small place and everyone knows everyone's business. I know what those places are like. Inthis book the residents love to bet and I love all they bet on. It shows while they are nosy they are hoping for the best. Joanie has to learn her families past doesn't have to be hers and some things are wrth keeping. She also learns not everything is as it seems with her family. I love the chemistry between Nick and Joanie. They have sparks you can clearly see even just reading about them. I love the cats as well. If you love a great romantic book with a good plot be sure to pick this one up.

Author Info
Award-winning author Kim Law wrote her first story, “The Gigantic Talking Raisin,” in elementary school. Although it was never published, it was enough to whet her appetite for a career in writing. First, however, she would try her hand at a few other passions: baton twirling, softball, and music, to name a few. Voted “Bookworm” and “Most Likely to Succeed” in high school, she went on to earn a college degree in mathematics.

Law spent years working as a computer programmer and raising her son, and she now devotes her time and energy to writing romance novels (none of which feature talking raisins).

She is a Romance Writers of America’s RITA® finalist, a past winner of the RWA’s Golden Heart® Award, and currently serves as president for her local RWA chapter. Her books can best be described as a light-hearted mix taking her readers on a sexy, fun, and emotional ride. A native of Kentucky, she now lives with her husband and an assortment of animals in her Middle Tennessee home.

  2. I like the blurb and your review. I definitely want to read Sweet Nothings by Kim. I like the idea of Joanie "flipping" businesses, which is unusual for a lady, as generally guys do this.I met Kim in person recently and I have to say she is a really nice person.
    Many thanks,
