Mia Blake wasn’t the first girl to be taken by the vampires. She is kidnapped and held prisoner by Caleb, the world’s oldest and most powerful vampire. Turned against her will, Mia must find a way to free herself from Caleb’s grip and get back to those she loves. But defeating the world’s most powerful vampire isn't going to be easy…
Mia is kidnapped by vampires and knows she is in the fight for her life. The oldest vampire there is Caleb wants her for reasons she doesn't know. She won't back down to him or anyone else. All she wants is to get back to her loves ones. Once she gets free she can't go home knowing Caleb will just track her down. While she has help escaping she may never be free of her some what rescuer. Things are about to turn bad for her as secrets are reveal and she has to face a hard future.
Mia is a fantastic character. She doesn't back down from the vampires and even if she is scared she still gets right in their faces. She does have her weak moments and of course in this book they are understandable when you read. I think at times she should look towards her future and what is in front of her instead of her past but I have a feeling or should say I am hoping the next book she does. Caleb is evil to the core and isn't going to give up on what he wants. Ryan I loved. Yes I know I shouldn't have but I think there is more to him we haven't seen yet.
At first i wasn't sure how i was going to like this book. The beginning while it had action just seemed to be slow for me. That soon changed and I got right into the book. I love the plot and enjoyed the characters. You really get to get inside Mia's head and feel what she feels. I like that. She is in a situation she doesn't want in and towards the end she seems to be all alone with no one with her. She is not she just doesn't get it yet and has a hard time knowing were to turn. The book offers lots of twist, one big one I didn't see coming at all. I eagerly look forward to what happens next and to see what all these characters do to get what they want.
The cover is a perfect match to this book and I really like it.
4 out of 5 Stars
Once upon a time, I was just a girl. My name was Mia. I lived a long way away from here. I had a mother and a best friend and a boyfriend I was pretty sure I had fallen completely in love with. I lived most of the time in my dorm room at my high school, because despite any other excuse, I didn’t like to be alone.
I wasn’t the first girl that was taken.
Sure, I had heard all about the girls who were missing, and even though they were only ‘missing’ I knew in my heart that those girls were dead. And my heart scrunched up in agony for them, for their families, just for a moment. Until the thought was replaced by something else, something different, because I couldn’t bear to think about those poor dead girls any longer.
I felt sad for them. But more than that, I felt glad that they had been strangers – not someone I knew, and certainly not me. Things like that didn’t happen to girls like me.
They always happened to someone else, and that’s why I barely blinked as I made my way across an empty football field, through a snow–laden parking lot, to meet a fate I had arrogantly assumed was reserved for other people.
I was a stupid girl.
I paid for it.
