Breathe - Review

The oxygen level outside the Pods are so low it is hard if not impossible to live outside. Inside the Pods there are different areas for people. Some like the Premiums have it made they can have more kids and get more privileges like more oxygen. Auxiliaries don't have much in the pods. They get less air and have hardly any privileges. Bea is an auxiliaries and tries everything to get out of that life. She is best friends with Quinn a Premium and secretly cares deeply for him. They plan a trip outside the pod not knowing their lives are about to change. Alina is part of the resistance and has to get out of the Pod quick when officials go looking for her. She uses Quinn to do so and leads them into more danger than they know. They all are about to discover there are secrets they don't know that could change their lives and everyone in the pods as well.

This book is a good read. I really liked the plot of the book. The world not having many trees is easy to believe it could happen. Corrupt goverment is another easy belief. I really liked Bea she is sweet but she can be tough when she has to. Quinn I liked because even if he is stupid when it comes to girls he does what is right in the end and doesn't let anyone stop him. Alina I didn't care much for. I don't know why but she just got on my nerves she was so cocky at times. The flow of the story is nice and steady. It just for some reason fell flat for me I did enjoy it but it wasn't all that I was expecting. I will read the next book when it comes out to see how it goes. It just felt like things got rushed in the end to me. Knowing there is going to be a next book helps with wondering what next but I would have liked the ending of this one to be a little less rushed. If you like Dystopian books pick this one up. It is good just not my favorite.

Fang Girl - Review

Here is number 7 of my TBR pile Reading Challenge. This is a very funny and good book.



Fang Girl by Helen Keeble

Jane wakes up in a coffin and realizes she is a vampire. Her sire is chased off before she can answer any questions so now Jane has to figure out where to go and what to do. She decides to call her dad and mum to come get her. The problem with that they think she is dead. When they get passed the fact she is back they do all they can to help her. her little brother thinks she is a zombie instead of a vampire. While trying to figure things out, her sire is making calls to her with not a lot of info, she also has to figure out which vampire elders are telling her the truth, why she seems different than other vamps and stay away from the vamp hunters. This is a lot for a 15 year old to deal with.

Jane is such a fun character. She knows what she is she just has to figure out why her. She at times seems a typical teen. Other times while in danger she uses her head and tries to think things thru. Her family is just amazing. They jump right in trying to find stuff for her to eat, which leads to some hysterical scenes, trying to keep her out of the sun in some funny place and even keeping an eye on her with boys around. Even being a vampire she still has rules to follow lol. You have Van and Ebon as well two guys both with different ideas for Jane and she has to figure out which to trust if either of them.

This book is not to be taken series. It is for laughs and you get a lot of them in this book. I love all the little things the author added to make the story pop. It has a great plot that keeps you from putting the book down. Lots of action and mystery that will keep those pages turning. The family will have you loving them from the start. If you are looking for a light funny vampire book pick this up. It even has a vampire fish.

Monument 14 - Review

Hey everyone this is number 6 in my TBR pile reading challenge. This is a fantastic book and one of my favorites so far this year.

In the near future where everyone uses tablets and is hooked to the Network no one expects a tragedy to happen and change the world. It does happen and in one town most of the kids are on their way to school when it happens. A natural disaster strikes and the kids must hold up in a superstore to survive. There is some high school kids and some younger kids as well. They all must learn to work to survive if they are to survive. Even when some don't want to do their part.

I just love this book. I wanted it as soon as I saw the cover and read the blurb. It lives up to the hope I had for it. Told from the POV of Dean a high school boy you get to see what it is like to throw all different type of kids and different ages together and how they bond. You have several who don't want to do anything unless it is to show off, you have some that even seem to go crazy and you have the younger kids trying to help and not miss their parents to much. Dean does a great job stepping up and not taking the leadership role but still trying to help. I like that he is kinds in the middle and not the leader it is a different change and lets you see what it might be like for a normal person.

In the way of the world now days you can really get a feel for this book as it seems it could happen. The future isn't portrayed as aliens and a huge technology but there is some advance tech it just doesn't seem so out of reach. The way these kids act is totally believable and when they do interact with adults the adults behavior seems real as well. You have some good adults and you have the few that are rotten to the core. There is plenty of action as the kids face not just the natural disasters but the fall out that follows.Dean has to make some tough decisions that are a lot for someone who really is still a kid to make but he really steps up. The ending left me begging for more. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a YA book u the near future or natural disaster books. I eagerly look forward to the next book in this series.

Back and Deader Than Ever

 This is number 5 in my TBR Reading Challenge!

Back and Deader Than Ever by Lisi Harrison

The RADs and normies are learning to live side by side. They can go out in public now without worry for their lives. Everything should be perfect now but it is not. Draculaura's (Lala) daddy is back in town and wants the RAD's to have their own school away from the normies. It is up to Lala to prove to him she can do things right and that they need to stay with their normal friends. While this is going on Frankie and the others get in a huge competition of who is the best couple. Friends are against friends even when they should becoming together.

I have always enjoyed the Monster High series. The books and characters are just so cute!! Sorry to say this book fell flat compared to the others. I like seeing all the familiar faces but I didn't enjoy the story line as much. In a way the book felt rushed like she wanted to get it over. I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves a cute charming series that you could enjoy with a preteen. The story line just seemed a little more boring than the others and It switched around to different POV several times. It might have been better if it had stuck to Lala's so we could see more of her.

Beta - Review

 I am slowly knocking that TBR pile down as part of the TBR Reading Challenge. This is number 4 for me in this challenge so I have a long way to go. I am reading some great books that is the main thing!!

Elysia knows she has been create to be a Beta. She is a clone of someone who has died. It is her job to keep her new family happy and not to question things. Everything is perfect at first. She is pampered and really treated as one of the family. She has a secret she is hiding though. She can feel emotions and she isn't supposed to. If it is found she could be reprogrammed or dismantled. The family she lives with seems happy and so does everyone else living on the island. But she soon finds they are hiding many secrets and the other worker clones are hiding things as well. No one is happy as they seem. Elysia finds some happiness for herself but it is took away from her. She has to find away to live her own life and help those that need help. She also has to find away to control her growing anger.

As soon as I heard about this book I wanted to read it. It sounded so amazing. The cover also drew my eye I had to know what the marks on her face meant. This book did not let me down. I enjoyed every bit of it. Elysia even if she is a clone you get pulled into feeling for her. She has emotions just like us and you can tell more is going on than what you see. She has so many struggles in this book especially towards the end. You also get a few surprises you don't see coming or at least i didn't they add so much excitement to the book as you read. Waiting to see what will happen next. I will not reveal the twist but will say one you can kind of see coming and the other is a big shock. You have plenty of action as people are trying to keep the clones in line and the clones developing feelings and wanting to be free. I eagerly look forward to more in this series. I want to see what Elysia does next.

Even White Trash Zombies Get The Blues - Review

This is the second book in the White Trash Zombie series. Angel is a zombie but just trying to keep her life clean, work and keep her dad in line and all along keep being a zombie a secret from all who don't know. She loves her job working in a morgue and she is good at it. However now her terms of probation are coming back on her. She has forgot all about having to get her GED and when a body goes missing she is blamed because of her past. It also seems there is a new zombie hunter or maybe it is just an old one in town. Zombies are not the only ones dying though seems some people are hiding a lot of secrets and Angel needs to figure them out to stay alive or undead.

Angel is such a fantastic character. She isn't your normal female lead. She has made a lot of mistakes and hey she is a zombie now. All she wants is to keep her life straight and keep her friends and family safe. I love this girl from her looks which are different to her attitude as she doesn't let anyone stand in her way. Marcus her boyfriend she finds has many secrets including having family in some type of zombie mafia. I love the sound of that lol. He does what he can to help Angel but sometimes he seems like a lap dog for his uncle. Another character that I really loved in this book is Angel's dad. He is trying even if he does slip and he shows more love for her in this book.

I love zombie books and this is one series that doesn't let me down. I really like the plot. You have zombies trying to pass as regular people and people after them. Even the zombies who seem good have dark sides as you get to see in this book. It is hard to know who to trust and Angel may even have to trust some that have hurt her in the past. You get to see that the zombies go back further than what you know and may have been a deciding factor in some peoples lives. Even if you don't love zombie books I would say try this series it is good and very entertaining. It keeps you on you toes and guessing. As a final word I have to say I love the covers to these books. They are unique and fit perfect to the series. I can't wait for the next book.

Reached- Review

This is my second review in the TBR pile reading Challenge.

Reached wraps up the Matched series and while I enjoyed this book I didn't love it as much as I had hoped I would. After following Cassia, Ky and Xander in the other two books I just was wanting more. They are all three fighting for what they believe in their own way and none of them are together. They are spread out and are not even sure they are on the same side. You do get to find out tons more about the Society and even the Rising. It does leave you wondering sometimes just which one is good and which is the bad. Both you find have good and bad qualities to them. A new danger arises during this time and you have to wonder if they will have enough time to save the people they care about. It is hard to do a review for this book and give no spoilers for the other two so it will be a short review.

I did enjoy getting to really see inside Xander's head in this book. I really think I enjoy him better than Ky. He does everything he can to help people even when someone is trying to hold him back. Cassie I am in between feelings about her as this series ends. She seemed in a way to be more on the outside of the Rising doing the small things that yes they do matter but it still keeps her from being in much danger. She does find out more about her and her families past that make some sense. Ky for some reason I did not care for in this book. I don't really know what it was but he put me off him in the book.

If you love a dystopian book I would recommend this series. It is good and very original in thought. The ending does wrap up nicely just wasn't my favorite ending.

Charley has took a few months off work since her last case went badly. She is brought out of her funk when a new client shows up with a new case.Someone is trying to kill the woman or so she believes. Everyone else is convinced the woman is just crazy. Charley doesn't think so and is bound to help her. She does have a few other problems going on as well. Reyes is out of prison but staying away like she asked. She needs to look him up now because she is broke and after all she did solve a case of is and he owes her money. Of course anything but normal happens when they get together. Some past enemies are still out there and still out to get Charley. Throw in an arsonist, some bank robbers and Charley's family and she has her hands full once again.

Charley is fascinating as always. I love her as a character and always love to read more about her. In this book you get to see the side of her you haven't seen a lot. The side that is really scared. You also get to the normal sides of her that you already know and love. Cookie of course is still one of my favorites. Even with all the crazy stuff in Charley's life she stays right by her side. Reyes is as yummy as ever. This man is just dark and you know he has the evil side but you can't help but want him. Amber I really liked in this book. You seen she isn't as clueless as everyone thinks she is plus she shows some awesome humor in this book. Most of the characters you have gotten used to are still here in this book and you get to see them. Including one hot biker who I think is my second favorite male in this book.

This is the fourth book in this series and it just makes me love the series more and more. We find out more about just what Charley is and get a glimpse of what she will become. The action is always going and sometimes I was surprised by who was shooting at Charley. The client Charley has really took me for a loop. I didn't see the twist coming and that was great. I thought I had the case figured out and I was dead wrong. The sparks between Charley and Reyes is as hot as always but I have to say I think I would have been tempted by another man in this book. If you have read this I am sure you know who I mean. Also you see more into Charley's family life that makes you understand why the do the things they do. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Charley cause she always entertains. It may be fighting demons, solving cases or just better understanding her self I know it is going to continue to be a wonderful ride. If you haven't read this series you need to.
