Hi everyone I have a stop on the Iron Pendulum blog tour today. There is a review of the book an excerpt and a giveaway for you all.
IRON PENDULUM Synopsis:
A month ago, Avery thought the world ended outside Dome Four. Thought she was one of the few of her kind. Thought the war that brought the human race to the brink of extinction was over.
But a month can change everything.
After fighting to escape a tyranny she didn't even know existed, Avery has had to come to grips with all the secrets she's uncovered. But more secrets continue to come to light, revealing how little of her world she truly knew. When evidence starts to show that Dome Four might be under siege, Avery knows what she must do.
Returning to the dome she longed to escape is a challenge for Avery, but now she knows there’s corruption lurking in the shadows. A massive steam shortage leaves half the dome without power, and people are falling ill. Dying.
And they’re blaming Avery.
A month can change everything. One more month could kill everyone. The clock is ticking.
My Review
Avery knows she has to go back to Dome Four. She promised she would be back and when she gets back she finds things have went even more down hill since she left. She is being blamed for the shortage of steam. Avery digs deep and finds out what is making the people sick and just how far it goes. Along with her friends she works to put a stop to the corruption. Another enemy seems to have plans for Dome Four as well. The people need a hero they can follow and Avery doesn't know if she is up to the challenge. She won't back down from her enemies and finds her and her friends in a lot more danger than she thought possible.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was glad to get to read this one. Avery has become so much stronger than when she first started. She has a boyfriend, great friends and wants to do the right thing. She knows things are bad in Dome Four and she feels bad for not going back sooner. In Dome Four she finds more are dying than ever. The governor seems to have plans for them and she just has to find out what. Avery never knows who to trust for sure and always has to watch her back. The governor wants to take her down but he wants to make a show of it first. Jaxon is right there with her and the two clearly belong together. I love seeing secrets about Jaxon come out in this book as well. There is so much that goes on in this action packed book I had a hard time putting it down for anything else in real life. I loved the intrigued of not knowing for sure who was on the right side. Legs kept me confused as to what side he was on like usually. This book has lots of twist I didn't see coming. There is also loss in this book and I hate to see just how far these people will go to get what they want. I have to say the ending left me dying for more as I have to know what next. I would recommend this to anyone who like a dystopian/ Steampunk book or just wants a great read.

There was nothing I could do. I hadn’t mastered all the elements yet, although Riggs and Lexie thought I would eventually. I watched as Jaxon’s steel blue eyes narrowed. His lips were taut with concentration as he wrapped his hands firmly around the wire. Sweat beaded on his forehead.
“Be careful.” I cautioned.
He said nothing, but closed his eyes and began to rock back and forth. The rope turned red with heat, but there was also a small rivulet of blood trickling from his nose, dripping off his upper lip.
“Jaxon, you’re bleeding. You’ve got to stop.”
His jaw clenched. The muscles in his neck tightened and his forearms flexed. There was a snap, and then Sari cried out in surprise as her weight crushed me. We fell to the ground, Sari’s leg crumpling awkwardly. If it wasn’t broken before, it was now.
She bit her lip to keep from crying out. Her clothes were soaked through with water, blood, and refuse, and she curled her arms around her mangled leg. I tried to lift her on my own, but her weight was too much. She was white as a sheet and shaking from shock.
“We’ve got to get out of here. Alice, help carry Sari.” Jaxon’s weak voice terrified me almost as much as Sari’s injury. He staggered to his feet. “She needs the ER.”
