Aberrant
Aberrant Series Book One
By: Ruth Silver

Blurb
In the future dystopian society of Cabal, the government instills equality for all and offers its citizens the perfect system. There is food, shelter and jobs for everyone. The one requirement is to follow the rules without question, including the government’s match in marriage and “The Day of the Chosen”, a lottery that randomly selects families to conceive children as natural means hasn’t existed in generations. Following her eighteenth birthday, Olivia Parker accepts her requirement to marry her childhood best friend, Joshua Warren, and is eager to start her work assignment and new life when it all comes abruptly to an end as she’s arrested and thrown in prison. The only crime committed, her existence.

Olivia is unlike the rest of the world born not from “The Day of the Chosen.” The truth haunts the government and puts her life in grave danger as one simple fact would destroy the perfect system. With Joshua’s help, Olivia breaks free of prison and is forced on the run. Together they set out to find the promised rebel town in search of a new home and new life together. Their situation seems less than promising as they reach the town of Haven. New rules and customs must be adhered to in order to stay. Leaving would mean most certain death in the large expanse of the Gravelands. Time is running out as the government mounts an attack to destroy Olivia and bury her secret with her. Thrown into a world unlike their own, they must quickly adapt to survive.

My Review
Cabel is the future dystopian society that allows all to have food, jobs and shelter. All you have to do is follow the rules. Marry the person the government pairs you with and you also get to take part in the lottery to see if you are selected to have children. Natural conception of children can no longer be done due to infertility so The Day of the Chosen lets some people become parents through other means.Olivia gets paired to marry her best friend Joshua and is happy with the match. Her happiness doesn't last as right after her wedding she is arrested for something she knew nothing about. Her crime is she wasn't a normal baby in today's times. She was actually conceived the natural way. The government wants her destroyed so their rules can stay in place. With Olivia probably the only woman left who can conceive naturally her life has just been took out of her hands. She escapes from jail and with the help of Joshua makes it to another town called Haven. They think they have found safety only to find they have even more rules to follow here. Everyone want Olivia to do what only she can but not with the guy she loves. They have to decide if they want to stay, follow the rules or to try and make it out on their own. It seems no matter where Olivia goes she is in danger.

Olivia is someone easy to follow and cheer on. She wants hright to live her own life and make her own decisions but every where she goes that right is took from her. She learns many family secrets and takes them pretty well. She isn't a quitter and doesn't like to give up. Joshua I wasn't sure about. I liked him most of the time. He seems to always be there for Olivia when she needs him but sometimes he acted like he didn't want to be more than friends with her. I really grew to like him the more I got to see him. He is loving, caring and wants to protect Olivia no matter what.

I love dystopian books and this is one to add to the list of greats. The characters really make this book amazing as well as a wonderful story line that keeps you wondering what next. It seems something is always going on to Olivia and every one wants a piece of her. As you follow on her journey you see how everywhere in this future society is different yet at the same time they have similarities. You have the good guys and the bad ones but sometimes it is hard to tell who is good and  who is bad. They all do bad things  for what they consider to be for the better. I will say don't think you have it all figured out because the ending brought in a twist I din't see coming. It just makes me that much more eager for the next book. I want to see just what all Olivia and Joshua will be able to do now. If you like dystopian books or even if you don;t pick this up as it is fascinating.
