Marriage Minded Lord

When an outrageous meeting leads to inappropriate desire, will family honor and duty destroy a chance for true love?

Felix Alan Darrington, Earl of Swandon has been summoned to London by his mother. Though he has obligations to Parliament, his meddling parent has reminded him it’s time to do his duty, marry and provide her with grandchildren. But Felix refuses to wed under dictate. He’ll choose the woman and the time, and if he’s lucky he’ll marry for love.

Clarice Delacroix is a lady’s companion. Though she’s an illegitimate daughter of a duke, her mother was a French opera singer which puts Clarice firmly between worlds. Possessed of a quick temper and a penchant for making pastries, she longs for adventure, romance and acceptance, but she refuses to be anyone’s mistress. Her mother’s life is not for her.

As Felix schemes to spend more time with Clarice and find out why the Frenchwoman intrigues him, the titled lady who wishes to be his countess conspires to keep them apart. Felix quickly finds that balancing relationships between family and love is not as easy as first thought, or as black and white. Someone in his circle isn’t telling the truth, and the repercussions could prove deadly to Clarice’s future.

My Review
The Earl of Swandom is asked to return home and find a wife by his mother. She loves to tell him what to do and while he hates the meddling after Felix meets a certain woman his mind may change on not wanting to get married like his mother asked. He still wants to be married to the woman he loves or not at all. Clarice is the companion to a lady but really is so much more. While she may be the illegitimate daughter of a duke she still will not be the same person her mother was.  While she tries to balance her work, her growing feelings for Felix and keep secrets she is getting pulled in all directions. She will have to make a decision soon for she may be in danger.

Felix at first doesn't seem like the type that will ever settle down. He doesn't like getting told what to do but he really begins to loosen up when he meets Clarice. He doesn't see her as beneath him and isn't afraid to make a scene over her. Clarice is a proud person and not one to hold her tongue. Stuck in the middle of two worlds she really doesn't have a set place. She tries her best to not get involved in a mess but knows she can't hold back what Felix brings out in her.

I really like this book. You get to see how different classes where probably treated by some in that time period. I love the two main characters and how they bring out the best in each other. Poor Clarice has the lady from hell as her companion and you can't help but want to choke her. She is an evil vile woman who hides what she is. I felt sorry for Clarice but really understood why she put up with all she did. I love the chemistry between Felix and Clarice and how they try to act good around each other and not give in. I loved the ending the only thing I would have liked to see was Felix tease his butler more lol. I could see the beginning scene so clearly in my mind. I look forward to reading more about this family as I love them all even the meddling mother. If you like a historical romance with some intrigue mixed in try this one.

  4. Only an INSANE man would get married in America today, considering how biased the divorce courts are against men and how useless 99 percent of American women really are.

71 percent of men between the ages of 18 to 34 in America have no interest in marriage:

And the following essay really explains very lucidly exactly why so many men are avoiding marriage:
