Less Than Perfect - Review

Less Than Perfect by Kelly Jensen

Blurb
Mikayla’s read every book in her collection of post-apocalyptic novels at least twice. She thinks she’s prepared for aliens taking over Earth. She’s not.

Nor is she prepared for the attention of a good-looking refugee named Reg.

All Mikayla and Reg want is a safe place to see out the end of the world, hidden away from the aliens that call themselves The People, but cities of the depopulated United States not infested with The People are rife with gangs, the detritus of civilization and disease.

On a mission to restock their supplies, Mikayla and Reg are captured by The People and prepared for the procedure that will make them perfect, but no longer quite human. In order to escape, they need to rely on each other…if Mikayla can trust a man who seems too good to be true.

My Review
Aliens have took over Earth and they have changed all the humans they could find. Mikayla has managed to stay free and kept her treasure safe. Her books are what she will try to save no matter what. After she and her friends are forced to leave there safe house they have to try and get supplies in a city. She and Reg are captured and are set to be changed. She has to depend on Reg a guy she likes. He at times seems to be good to true and she worries he may have different motives for getting close to her.

Reg is a sexy guy who tries to lighten the mood when it everyone gets down. He is very protective of Mikayla and will do whatever to keep her safe. Mikayla is smart, sweet and at times you think she is a younger girl than she is. She doesn't give up and will fight with all she has.

I love dystopian books and this is a good one. Aliens instead of zombies in the case of this book. The plot is a good one. You see that the aliens aren't the only thing you have to worry about that humans can be bad as well. I liked all the characters in this book. Mikayla is easy to like as she is a bookworm and while she is not a child at times she seems like it. I love Reg from the start. Mikayla has to see who she can trust in this book and at times she doesn't know for sure who to trust. While I enjoyed this book I wish it had a little more to it. I wanted to know more about the aliens. Overall this is a good book with two people falling in love in a time of danger.

3 out of 5 Stars
